Do You Remember: Killer Women
In 2014 ABC debuted a new crime drama, based on the Argentine crime drama Mujeres Asesinas, called Killer Women. The series followed the life of Molly Parker (Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer), a former beauty queen and daughter of a sheriff, who was recently separated from her abusive State Senator husband. She rose to the top ranks of one of the most elite and male-dominated law enforcement establishments, the Texas Rangers. The perpetrators of the episodic crimes she solves are all female.
The show was adapted into an American setting by writer Hannah Shakespeare [who has gone on to serve as a co-executive producer on The Sinner] and among its executive producers was Sofia Vergara (of Modern Family fame).
The main cast included Marc Blucas (Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Necessary Roughness) as Dan Winston, a DEA agent and Molly’s love interest; Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica) as Billy Parker, Molly’s brother; Alex Fernandez (Devious Maids and Good Trouble) as Luis Zea, Molly’s boss; Marta Milans (Shazam!) as Becca Parker, Billy’s wife and Seina Agudong (the movie Upside-Down Magic) as Lulu Parker, Becca and Billy’s daughter.
Some of the guest stars on the show included:
Nadine Velasquez (Queens and Major Crimes)
Beth Riesgraf (Leverage and Leverage: Redemption)
Melora Hardin (The Bold Type)
Jeffrey Nordling (Walker and Nashville)
Aisha Hinds (9-1-1)
Paola Turbay (Royal Pains and Bosch)
Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer)
Erin Karpluk (Being Erica and A Million Little Things)
The show initially consisted of eight episodes, but after low ratings for the first two episodes, the season was shortened to only six episodes. Episode 7 was used as the final episode with episodes 6 and 8 airing only online about a month after the show was pulled from the primetime line-up. The series was officially cancelled on May 9, 2014. The show was mostly panned by critics, and averaged only 3.4 million viewers.
