ABC
My Top Choices for February TV
February TV is only a week away and while there are loads of programming options all over the TV landscape on the major and cable networks and streaming services, I have narrowed my “must watch” list down to my top 10.
RETURNING TO THE FOLD
The following dramas will be back with new episodes, one drama returning from its extended winter break and the other back with the start of its much anticipated second season:
Sweet Magnolia on February 4 on Netflix
A Million Little Things on February 23 on ABC at 10 PM
NEW SHOWS ON THE BLOCK
Two new dramas that will debut in February include:
The Endgame on February 21 on NBC at 10 PM. Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Homeland and Gotham) and Ryan Michelle Bathe (First Wives Club, All Rise and Mrs. Sterling K. Brown) will star in this high-stakes drama. Baccarin will play Elena Federova, a recently captured international arms dealer and brilliant criminal mastermind who orchestrates a number of coordinated bank heists throughout New York City for a mysterious purpose. Bathe will play Val Turner, the principled, relentless and socially outcast FBI agent who will stop at nothing to foil her ambitious plan.
Reacher, based on the Lee Childs books, will debut on Amazon on February 4. Titans star (and former American Idol contestant) Alan Ritchson plays the lead character Jack Reacher, a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with.
NOTE: I had the opportunity to watch screeners of all 8 episodes of Reacher, and I binged watched it in two nights. I really enjoyed the series, and recommend our readers check it out!
MOVIES, MOVIES AND MORE MOVIES
It seems like there are more and more made-for-TV movies every single month and February is no different. Out of the over 15 movies set to debut next month, the following are at the top of my list:
The Hallmark Channel will air the remainder of its newly minted The Wedding Veil trilogy movies, starting with:
The Wedding Veil Unveiled on February 12 at 8 PM; and,
The Wedding Veil Legacy on February 19 at 8 PM.
Autumn Reeser, Alison Sweeney and Lacey Chabert are the stars of the new trilogy.
And, Wynonna Earp star Melanie Scrofano makes her Hallmark Channel debut in the February 26 movie Welcome to Mama’s (airing at 8 PM). Scrofano plays an Italian restaurant manager who teams up with a master chef (Daniel di Tomasso from Witches of East End and Major Crimes).
The remaining movies that I’m looking forward to watching are:
Tangled on Passionflix on February 3. This movie is based on the popular romance series by Emma Chase about an investment banker who chases after a co-worker who doesn’t easily fall for his supposed irresistible charms.
Book of Love on Amazon on February 4. Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games franchise and Me Before You) stars as an uptight English writer whose novel is a total failure except for rewrite that became a hit in Mexico where he goes for a book tour with the Spanish translator.
Tall Girl 2 on Netflix on February 11. The sequel finds Jodi Kreyman (lead star Ava Michelle) no longer just the “tall girl.” She is now popular, confident and the lead in her high school’s upcoming musical, but insecurities take hold and her new world begins to crumble.
Our full February calendar will be out in a few days. Check it out on Thursday, and then please share what programming you are looking forward to watching in February.
