ABC
New Show Introduction: Abbott Elementary
Can we take a moment to talk about the newest comedy coming to ABC, Abbott Elementary, because I could not be more excited for this show. For starters this cast is stellar. Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show, iZombie) is the creator of Abbott Elementary, as well as the star of the show. Starring along side Quinta will be Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris, Whiskey Cavalier), relative newcomer Janelle James and Chris Perfetti (In The Dark, The Resident). Here is where it gets even better, rounding out the cast will be Lisa Ann Walter. She was Chessy in The Parent Trap among so many other things. Love her. As well as Sheryl Lee Ralph. There isn’t space to list all of Sheryl’s roles, the woman is a goddess. She is an actor, singer and author. If you can find a clip of her as Deena Jones in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls you will be glad you did.
After you watch the pilot send us your comments and let us know how you liked this new “work place” comedy. Everything I have see so far has me giddy.
The official synopsis is:
In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers—and a slightly tone-deaf principal—are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.
