A Million Little Things Roundtable: Game Night
A Million Little Things aired another new episode of season 4 on Wednesday night.
Here is the official synopsis for the episode (season 4, episode 3) entitled “game night”:
When the girls decide to throw Katherine a celebratory divorce party, the guys get together to watch the hockey game and distract Eddie. Maggie is blindsided by some news, while Sophie is forced to stand her ground. Eddie helps Theo with a romantic gesture for a new crush and stumbles into someone from his past.
Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode [spoiler alert]:
Cay:
I really enjoyed this episode, probably because for once there wasn’t a ton of gloom and doom. Although, I have to say, when you take a step back and think about all the stuff going on in this group of friends, it’s really hard to imagine that they are all still friends, especially the women. How many of us have girls’ night with two other friends who have also dated/are dating one of our exes? How many of us celebrate the divorce of a friend whose husband had an affair with another friend? And how many of us have girls’ night and a famous actress just happens to drop by? Anyway, I digress… it was fun watching them all actually having some fun and accepting where their lives are headed. My vote is for Katherine to remain single for a while…she needs to get her head on straight, she doesn’t need to be dating any guys…or gals…right now!
Speaking of moving on, I’m glad to see that Eddie is showing some mental toughness and so far hasn’t come off the rails about Katherine or finally finding out the identity of the woman who hit him. We can only hope that meeting her in person and hearing her story provides closure rather than sending him spiraling. The storyline with him and Theo going all “Love Actually with glitter” was so sweet that I almost saw past the corniness of it!
Maybe I’m completely off base here, but could Gary have somehow lost his hat somewhere around Peter’s house? That is all I could think of when he couldn’t find it. Maybe it’s a red herring and I should worry more about the sweatshirt that Darcy rescued from the box, but it just seemed more than a “well, it’s time to move on” kind of thing! I’m really interested to see what happens next episode now that Peter’s wife reported seeing someone matching Gary’s description parked outside their house and has heard Sophie’s allegations (even if she’s not ready to believe her). Oh, and of course there’s the fact that Peter is awake!
What are the odds that Peter’s wife comes to believe Sophie and seeks out his other students for their stories and then turns on him? Could that be how Gary somehow gets out of taking the fall for setting the whole thing in motion?

Rueben:
I LOVED the whole “Love Actually” bit (corny storyline or not). I was laughing the whole time and enjoying it so much!
The fact that Peter started to wake up in that final scene – I think we all saw that coming even if we didn’t want him to wake up. That detective is not going to give up, and that sweatshirt (hoodie?) will be more of a problem than Gary’s baseball cap. I think he actually had it on while he was packing up that box and took it off before Darcy took the donation box with her.
For me the girls’ night was a bit awkward because I saw it more from Katherine’s perspective. Not that of being a divorced woman [I’ve never been married], but from the perspective of her not really wanting to go. I’ve never been one for girls’ night, not even with a small group of friends. Parties aren’t my jam (how funny that dishes are Katherine’s jam, by the way). But, it was kinda interesting to see the dynamic for all the women being together (sans Delilah). What bothers me is that I’m not okay with Darcy being a part of the girls’ night, but not bothered by Shanice.
As much as I could have cared less about the hat drama for Gary, it was quite something to see Liam – the germaphobe – jump into that dumpster to attempt to track down Gary’s MIA baseball cap. Kudos to him for doing that given his phobia, but I still could have cared less about that damn cap.
I have to agree with you, Cay, that I think Peter’s wife will eventually go digging on his phone (at least I sure hope that’s the case), and find something on there to prove that what Sophie said is true. We can only hope. And kudos, I might add, to Sophie for not backing down when Peter’s wife confronted her.
I’m worried about two issues: 1) Eddie and Nicole, the woman who hit him. Will it do Eddie any good to continue on this path? Given what Russ, his new trainer, shared with him, will this help or hinder his progress/his future? Will it bring closure for either of them? 2) Gary and that damn sweatshirt. Given how dogged that detective is, and that look on Darcy’s face after Gary left the room shortly after she showed him that she “rescued” it from the donation box, what will transpire next?
