A Million Little Things: “not alone”
A Million Little Things aired another new episode this week from its third season.
Here is the official synopsis for this episode (season 3, episode 15) entitled “not alone”:
Eddie is determined to prove that he can still be a good father despite his physical challenges, and Sophie searches for answers to help cope with her trauma. Meanwhile, Rome and Tyrell work together on a passion project.
Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode [spoiler alert]:
Cay:
Ok, so apparently we’re pretending the pandemic doesn’t exist after initially going all-in. There was one comment by Eddie about the pandemic and not a mask to be seen. I wasn’t a big fan of including the pandemic in the first place, but it’s weird to have it suddenly disappear without any time jump!
Once again, I’m led to think that none of the other characters really deserve Gary! He is so selfless, almost to a fault. He and Eddie will be interesting housemates. We didn’t see Darcy in this episode, which means we didn’t see any conversation between her and Gary, which could suggest that he didn’t consult her before deciding to move back to his apartment with Eddie. As Gary and Darcy were practically living together before, this has got to throw a wrench into their relationship – the three of them will be more than a little awkward in that apartment!
As for the situation leading to Eddie and Gary being roomies, while I can see Eddie’s POV that he was sober for so long, that he just had a “slip up” and is back on track, I can definitely also see Katherine’s concerns. Thank goodness for no Alan this week, but that surely won’t last…
Good on Sophie for speaking up, although I don’t know that I would have taken the exact approach that she did. For some reason, when she walked up to the house, I expected that it was Peter’s house and she was going to confront him. I really hope she manages to take him down! I think having Maggie living at the house will be helpful. Although, if the show is really going to forget about the pandemic, then it seems that Delilah could come home at any time…
Love the storyline with Rome and Tyrell. It’s a bit predictable, but I like it nonetheless. It’s good to see Rome happy and getting to be a father, although not exactly how he had anticipated. I also like seeing Regina and her mother in a good place, although I hate the reason for it. At least they didn’t find a tumor or something, but I’m already done with the concussion symptoms plot!

Rueben:
For the first time, I actually like Regina’s mom. I was so pleased to see her stand up to that doctor, and be supportive of her daughter. If only she had done that before! I agree with you that it shouldn’t have taken her getting hurt at the protest to get to a slightly better place with her mom, though.
I also agree it was great to see Rome so excited about the documentary. I was expecting them to come up with some kind of title or angle for their documentary, however. I mean Rome and Tyrell did discuss it, but they didn’t really say what it was going to be called. That’s what I was hoping to hear out of their conversation.
The lack of consistency with them focusing on the pandemic is a bit off-putting; one time they’re all in masks; and the next they’re not. Why would Mrs. Gregory invite Sophie into their home when they would still be in some kind of lockdown – at least in terms of letting a complete stranger into their home. They just need to decide if they are going to focus on the pandemic or not. It’s just a little wonky.
I thought the same thing about the house Sophie went up to. I expected Peter’s wife to answer the door. But, perhaps it was better – at least for the storyline – that it was Leila Gregory’s parents, as it set up the story for the dad to show up, telling Maggie that Leila wrote in her diary about wearing a bathing suit; and that, until Sophie mentioned it, her dad thought it had to do with a boy she liked. I don’t think Sophie is going to give this up, and I’m going to guess that part of the finale will be Sophie going at Peter in some way.
Love, love, love how supportive and helpful Gary is to his friends. You are so right that they all don’t deserve him. But, you have a very valid point that he didn’t talk to Darcy at all about going back to his apartment with Eddie as his roommate. That’s going to make things very complicated.
I can totally understand why Katherine would be uncertain about Eddie being able to take care of Theo because of his addiction rather than being in the wheelchair; but I’m just so done with their marital problems. They finally argued, which has been boiling up over the last couple of episode, getting much of their issues spoken out loud. However, can we just move on from this; move on from the pandemic. Move on to other things?! Please!!
I did feel better about this episode than the last few, but I can’t say that I’ve been really all that happy about this season. It started out fairly good, but over time it just didn’t work. Gary has been the major good thing all season long along with Maggie. I’m hopefully that the final three episodes will be a little better.
