A Million Little Things: “writings on the wall”
A Million Little Things aired the second episode from its third season on Thursday night.
Here is a synopsis for season 3, episode 2: “writings on the wall”
Katherine and Theo learn to adapt to their new life after Eddie’s accident. Rome and Regina grow distant as Rome suppresses his anger over the failed adoption. Delilah struggles with having a date at the house while the kids are away. Maggie unexpectedly bonds with her new roommate as Gary navigates trying to stay friends with her while building his relationship with Darcy.
Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode [spoiler alert]:
Cay:
Okay, so Delilah’s boy toy is still in the picture…at least for now. It’s a bit weird to me that she feels uncomfortable bringing Miles home into her bed, but didn’t seem to have an issue doing the same with Eddie when her husband was still alive! I guess all of us behave irrationally sometimes, but this just felt off to me. I totally got suckered into thinking her conversation at the end about going to France was with Miles, and not her father! I shouldn’t have been so gullible – the way she phrased things seemed a bit off for it to be Miles, but it never registered that it would be her father. I guess this means that the show is going to ignore COVID.
I feel like Rome and Regina never get to have any happiness. I guess it’s kind of their “thing” to have constant struggles, but I’m tired of seeing them miserable and at odds with each other. Clearly Rome’s movie is going to make things worse, at least in the short term, by forcing them to see their relationship from a distance/through the eyes of others.
I love Maggie’s flatmate! He’s a real trip – by far the highlight of the episode for me. I’m guessing that they will eventually end up hooking up, but I really hope they don’t any time soon.
I know they tried to end the Eddie and Katherine on a good note this week, but the whole set-up is just so sad that it brings me down. Maybe it’s because I had a family member with a bad spinal injury and would rather not relive any of that!
The guy from the truck – total creepy vibes! What is his deal? “You have a nice kid there, enjoy him”?

Rueben:
Those little moments between Darcy and Gary finally made me feel a little better about their relationship, but I’m still not sold on them as a couple. And perhaps Gary – based on that small little quip by Maggie (in the opening scene) about Colin being at Darcy’s house – may have planted a tiny little seed in Gary’s brain about not rushing things with Darcy. That seemed to be slightly cemented when, in that last scene, that he decided to go home, sharing with Darcy that he doesn’t want to rush things between them. He may want his relationship with Darcy to work, but I’ll say it again, I’m not sold on them.
I agree with you, Cay, that I wondered about why Delilah was all hot and heavy (at least seemingly) with Miles – not to mention the affair with Eddie; but she didn’t have him come to her home. That really did seem off. I also wondered for about a second when she was on the phone talking about going to France that she was asking Miles to go, and then just as quickly I thought, nope, they’re going throw us for a loop and have it be someone else; but I wasn’t expecting it to be her dad, as isn’t he in a home because of dementia? They really are ignoring COVID, and the fact that if she takes him for 3 weeks out of the country (or anywhere else for that matter), that it’s going to be extremely tough (and not that much of a pleasure trip) because of his health issue.
As for Eddie, I felt bad that he was left alone like that, but I also saw it coming as Katherine and Theo rushed around the house. But, at least – after the basketball game with Rome and Gary – Eddie seemed to switch gears about getting help. I just hope that decision goes in their favor so he can start to get better (and I’ll be very curious to see who they get as their home health care worker), little by little anyway, and that they, as a family, can start to open up to each other about
I feel bad for both Rome and Regina, but they are not talking to each other, they are yelling at each other, pushing at each other but not talking it out. I’m sick of their being the punching bag of the show, and just wish that they could have something happy and good happen for them. This movie is also going to put another wedge between them, and it’s just so wrong.
It was also funny that during that juxtapose scene of Katherine and Theo playing ping pong at her office and the guys playing basketball that a Maroon 5 song played over those scenes because Gary made a Maroon 5 joke earlier in the episode.
And, yes, Maggie’s flatmate Jamie is a breath of fresh air. Their scenes especially surrounding all those weird (and in some instances kinky) items in that trunk were a hoot to watch. The show is definitely setting them up to become a couple, but I hope that they keep it platonic, as I honestly think that a platonic relationship would do Maggie good after all the drama of her relationship with Gary. And, after seeing her record that her thoughts at the end of the episode, I have to wonder if the show will try to turn that into Maggie becoming a podcast therapist.
Lastly, the whole red truck guy (who is the father of the girl who died at the lake that, which been haunting Eddie) is downright creepy. And, they show him showing up at Eddie and Katherine’s house next week…ARGH!! Just reveal who he is, why he deliberately hit Eddie with his truck and bring that to a conclusion.
