Do You Remember: Pan Am

By  |

The ABC period drama Pan Am, created by former JAG writer and co-producer Jack Orman, debuted back on September 25, 2011. The series focused on aircraft pilots and stewardesses of the iconic Pan American World Airways as it operated in the early 1960s at the beginning of the commercial Jet Age.

The main cast included:

Mike Vogel (Under the Doom and The Brave) as Dean Lowrey, a Boeing 707 pilot recently promoted to Captain on international routes and one of the youngest airline captains in the industry.

Michael Mosley (soon to be seen in NEXT and Ozark) as Ted Vanderway, the crew’s first officer (aka co-pilot), a former US Naval Aviator and test pilot.

Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles) as Margaret “Maggie” Ryan, the flight crew’s idealistic but liberal-minded purser, who was not afraid to test the rules or her Pan Am superiors.

Karine Vanasse (Revenge and Cardinal) as Colette Valois, a French Pan Am stewardess.

Margot Robbie (an unknown, at the time, to American viewers, but now well-known box office star from The Legend of Tarzan; I, Tonya; and for her role as Harley Quinn) as Laura Cameron, a newly out of training stewardess and run-away bride.

Kelli Garner (The Enemy Within and the box office movie Godzilla: King of Monsters) as Catherine “Kate” Cameron, Laura’s older sister, who was an experienced, trilingual stewardess and a covert operative for the CIA.

Among the recurring cast were:

David Harbour (Stranger Things and Hellboy) as Roger Anderson, a British MI6 agent and Kate’s covert contact in London, who turned out to be a KGB double agent.

Jeremy Davidson (Royal Pains and Seven Seconds) as Richard Parks, Kate’s CIA hander and mentor.

Annabelle Wallis (The Mummy with Tom Cruise), as Bridget Pierce, an English stewardess and former Pan Am purser, who recommended Richard recruit Kate.

Goran Visnjic (Timeless and The Boys) as Niko Lonza, a Yugoslavian diplomat attached to the United Nations who became involved with Kate.

Scott Cohen (Necessary Roughness and The Americans) as Everett Henson, as Pan Am Vice President.

Colin Donnell (Arrow and Chicago Med) as Mike Ruskin, a columnist for The Village Voice, who befriends Maggie.

Ashley Greene (the Twilight franchise), as Amanda Mason, Ted’s childhood friend and later his fiancee.

The show aired 14 episodes, ending on February 19, 2012. It was officially cancelled by ABC that May despite an effort to work out a deal with Amazon to continue the series, which had reached a certain amount of international success.
