Agents of SHIELD Roundtable: “Stolen”
A new episode from the final season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD aired this week on ABC.
Here’s the synopsis for the latest episode, “Stolen”:
After Enoch’s sacrifice propelled them out of the time storm, the team arrives back in 1983 where Nathanial and Kora are hard at work building an army of hand-selected anarchist Inhumans at Afterlife. When the agents split up to cover more ground, Daisy is tasked with protecting Jiaying and is compelled to confront her mother for the first time since her death; while the others quickly learn they’ll need to face yet another supercharged former enemy in order to stop Malick.

STUPID
Roz: Is this really how we’re going to finally see Fitz? Because Sibyl and Nathaniel know that he’s the reason they don’t succeed? I’m not a fan of this as how we meet him after all this time. I just want to see him and it not tie directly into all this crazy story line!
Christie: They just BLEW UP a major part of the future! What the bloody hell? There are two episodes left! Forget the lack of Fitz, I’m past that. Starting to feel disappointed.
Karen: Did we finally get a little closer to finding Fitz? Not that we only have a couple of episodes left or anything…
This may have been my least favorite episode of the season. After the joy of last week’s (sorry I missed that recap) time looping, this was a HUGE letdown.
Rueben: Yep, I didn’t care for the episode as much as they others. The only good part of this episode for me was Daisy and Jiaying having that scene together talking about her mother. I am just so sick and tired of Nathaniel. I want him GONE! I don’t like that we may not see Fitz until the series finale. I also feel like they have way too much to resolve only a few episodes left.
AWESOME
Roz: I’ll give the show props for getting Bill Paxton’s son to play young Garrett, but otherwise so much of this episode made me so “meh”.
Karen: I agree with you Roz. He did an amazing job emulating Bill Paxton’s character.
Rueben: Oh man, I completely missed that it was James Paxton, Bill’s son, playing the younger version of his character John Garrett. Ok, pretty cool!! I enjoy any scene between Souza and Daisy.
Christie: Oh wow! He looked a lot like Paxton, but I didn’t realize he was his son. That’s cool.

SO SO
Roz: I just can’t with Nathaniel at this point. He’s just mustache-twirling at this point.
Christie: Daisy, after everything she’s experienced, is so easily influenced by Souza to talk to her mother. Why can’t they learn from previous experience? Even if it was a sweet scene.
Karen: I’m having a hard time finding a “so-so” thing from this one. I’m not a fan.
Rueben: I think nearly the whole episode was “meh” for me; sadly, as this season has – for the most part – been really fun and entertaining.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Roz: Can we see Fitz yet? We’ve got three episodes left. Please!
Christie: I’m with everyone else — WHERE IS FITZ! Overall this episode was middling and I am disappointed because I feel like it’s a foregone conclusion that we aren’t going to get a satisfying conclusion.
Karen: ugh. WHERE. IS. FITZ. Can we get a little less torturing and posturing please?
Rueben: Yes, I want them to start resolving the storylines, I want us to FINALLY see Fitz, I want them to take down Nathaniel, Kora and John Garrett; and in the end get Sibyl and finish “her” for good. I actually felt bad that Nathaniel killed Jiaying; how will that affect Daisy’s timeline?! My favorite line in the episode was Jiaying saying to Daisy, “Sometimes trying to do the right thing comes out all wrong.”
