My TV Choices for August
With TV production shutdown since March, and no end in sight of the “lockdown” on shows or movies being able to start filming any time soon, the programming selections are getting a little thin for major and cable networks alike.
That being said, though, there are still some TV options for next month’s viewing pleasure, and here are my top picks for August
MORE ROMANCE

WELCOME TO THE LINE-UP
There are a few new shows set to debut in August:
The Fugitive, based on the box office hit, will debut on Quibi – the streaming service for cell phones – on August 3. When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro (Boyd Holbrook) just wants to make sure his wife, Allison (Natalie Martinez), and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl, are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Wrongfully—and very publicly—accused, Mike must prove his innocence by uncovering the real perpetrator, before the legendary cop heading the investigation can apprehend him. Kiefer Sutherland and Genesis Rodriguez.
The Canadian drama Coroner will debut on The CW on August 5 at 9 PM. Serinda Swan (Graceland and Marvel’s Inhumans) stars as Jenny Cooper, a recently-widowed coroner in Toronto who investigates suspicious deaths. The cast includes Roger Cross.
The Australia comedy-drama Five Bedrooms will debut on Peacock on August 13. The series tells the story of five different people at different times of their lives. They bond after they find themselves seated together at the singles table at a wedding. After a few too many drinks, the solution to all of their problems seems to be buying a house together: a five bedroom house.
COMING BACK FOR MORE
The 100 will be back for the rest of its final season – after a three-week break – on The CW on August 5 at 8 PM.

Cobra Kai, the small screen continuation of the original Karate Kid movies, originally aired on YouTube. On August 28, the first two seasons of this series will be available on Netflix.
