August TV Calendar

The following list provides the dates of the new dramas that will air on streaming services as well as the major and cable networks and the made-for-TV movies and more that will all air during August.

NOTE: Please keep in mind that any of the following could easily change because of the COVID-19 pandemic that has altered our lives and TV production permanently.

August 1 – The Australian series The Code [not to be confused with the US series of the same night that aired on CBS] will make its US debut on Ovation at 7 PM

Show Synopsis: The first six-part series, set in both outback and metropolitan areas of Australia, interweaves several plot lines. The first follows brothers Ned (Dan Spielman) and Jesse Banks (Ashley Zukerman), who publish a video of a mysterious outback accident, and Hani Parande (Adele Perovic), who becomes involved with them. The second follows the accident, which sees teacher Alex Wisham (Lucy Lawless) and policeman Tim Simons (Aaron Pedersen) becoming involved in the personal affairs of accused teenager Clarence Boyd (Aaron L. McGrath). The third covers Ned’s journalism office, managed by Perry Benson (Adam Garcia). The fourth chronicles the intrigues of Deputy Prime Minister Ian Bradley (David Wenham), and political staffers Randall Keats (Aden Young) and Sophie Walsh (Chelsie Preston Crayford) while the after-effects of the accident unfold.

August 1 – The Hallmark Channel movie Romance in the Air will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: After learning her job is on the line, Eden (Cindy Busby) returns to Lake Tahoe where she used to spend her summers growing up. There she’s reunited with her childhood friend Riley (Torrance Coombs) and finds that the draw of her past might direct her future to a happiness she’s been missing in her life.

August 2 – The new movie Love By Accident will debut at 7 PM on UPtv

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: While on a road trip to spread her godfather’s ashes, Daphne (Getenesh Berhe) and her ill godmother Fran (Lanette Ware) get into an accident forcing them to make an unexpected stop. Wanting to keep Fran off the road, Daphne enlists Matthew (Henderson Wade), their mechanic, to be her fake boyfriend. But soon their fake relationship isn’t so fake after all. The movie also stars Conrad Coates and Yanic Truesdale.

August 3 – The Quibi remake of The Fugitive will debut online today

Show Synopsis: When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro (Boyd Holbrook) just wants to make sure his wife, Allison (Natalie Martinez), and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl (Keilani Arellane), are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Wrongfully—and very publicly—accused, Mike must prove his innocence by uncovering the real perpetrator, before the legendary cop heading the investigation can apprehend him. Kiefer Sutherland will play Det. Clay Bryce. and Genesis Rodriguez will play Det. Sloan

August 5 – The 100 will return with new episodes on The CW after a three week break at 8 PM followed by the debut of the Canadian drama Coroner will debut on The CW at 9 PM

Show Synopsis (Coroner): Serinda Swan stars as Jenny Cooper, a recently-widowed coroner in Toronto who investigates suspicious deaths. The cast includes Roger Cross.

August 6 – The season finale of Doom Patrol will air on HBO Max and DC Universe today

August 8 – The new movie Love on Harbor Island will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Seattle interior designer Lily Summers (Morgan Kohan) returns to her hometown to help her Aunt Maggie run her bed and breakfast by the marina, she meets Marcus (Marcus Rosner), the handsome seaplane pilot whose life’s work delivering rescue dogs helps Lily discover that home really is where the heart is.

August 9 – The 7th season premiere of Endeavour will air on PBS at 9 PM

August 9 – The season finale of Perry Mason will air at 9 PM on HBO

August 9 – The Alienist: The Angel of Darkness will air its 2nd season finale on TNT at 10 PM

August 9 – Showtime has picked up the BBC Studios drama We Hunt Together, debuting at 10 PM

Show Synopsis: The series explores the intoxication of sexual attraction and the dangerous power of emotional manipulation. As two conflicted detectives (Eve Myles and Babou Ceesay) track down a pair of deadly killers (Hermione Corfield and Dipo Ola), the series reveals how finding a volatile form of solace in another can have dire consequences.

August 9 – The UPtv movie Win, Lose or Love will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Single mom Christine (Helena Mattsson) ties widowed dad Adam (Corey Sevier) for the PTA presidency of their kids’ elementary school. Their co-presidency becomes a power struggle, but respect grows as they come to grudgingly face their true feelings for each other. The cast includes Greg Grunberg, Parker Stevenson and Nadine Velazquez.

August 10 – The season finale of DC’s Stargirl will air on DC Universe today

NOTE: This season finale will also air on The CW on August 11 at 8 PM.

August 11 – Greenleaf will air its series finale on OWN at 9 PM

August 13 – The Australia comedy-drama Five Bedrooms will debut on Peacock online today

Show Synopsis: The series tells the story of five different people at different times of their lives. They bond after they find themselves seated together at the singles table at a wedding. After a few too many drinks, the solution to all of their problems seems to be buying a house together; a five bedroom house.

August 14 – The new Netflix movie Project Power will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: A drug that imbues the taker with a superhuman ability for five minutes. It chronicles a man’s quest to rescue his daughter from the sinister forces behind the drug while assisting new allies. The cast includes Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dominique Fishback, Rodrigo Santoro and Courtney B. Vance.

August 15 – The Hallmark Channel movie Wedding Every Weekend will debut at 9 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Nate and Brooke (Kimberly Sustad and Paul Campbell) are going to the same four weddings, four weekends in a row. To avoid set-ups, they go together as “wedding buddies.” But what starts as a friendship soon becomes deeper.

August 15 – The UPtv movie Love on the Vines will debut at 7 PM

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: When Diana (Margo Harshman) inherits half her uncle’s vineyard, she is surprised to find a rule requiring her to work the land with new co-owner Seth (Steve Talley) for three weeks, or risk losing the land. The cast includes Jack Wagner and Catherine Mary Stewart.

August 16 – The new HBO series Lovecraft Country will debut at 9 PM

Show Synopsis: Based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff, the ten-episode series follows Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors) as he journeys with his childhood friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on a road trip from Chicago across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father Montrose (Michael Kenneth Williams). Their search-and-rescue turns into a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and monstrous creatures that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback. The cast includes Aunjanue Ellis, Jamie Chung, Erica Tazel and Tony Goldwyn.

August 21 – The 5th season of Lucifer will get underway online on Netflix today

August 21 – The third season of Find Me in Paris will premiere on Hulu today

August 21 – The Amazon Prime movie Chemical Hearts will debut online today

MOVIE SYNOPSIS: The movie tells the story of Henry Page (Austin Abrams), a teenage student who considers himself a hopeless romantic but has never fallen in love. He aspires to be editor of the high school newspaper and lives happily focused on his studies to enter a good university, until Grace Town (Lili Reinhart) enters his class. His new partner is not exactly the girl of his dreams, but little by little he falls in love with her when the two are chosen to edit their school’s newspaper.

August 22 and August 23 – The two-night Freeform limited series Love in the Time of Corona will debut at 8 PM (on both nights)

August 22 Episode 1 – “The Course of Love”

Married couple James and Sade (Leslie Odom Jr from Hamilton and his real-life wife Nicolette Robinson from The Affair) adjust to being together 24/7 in quarantine now that James’ business travel has come to a halt. Nanda (L. Scott Caldwell from Lost) spends time, virtually, with her husband, who is in a nursing home. Roommates Oscar and Elle (Tommy Dorfman from 13 Reasons Why and Rainey Qualley from Mad Men) decide to break out of their co-dependence and try online dating. Meanwhile, Sophie (Ava Bellows) returns home from her freshman year of college to spend quarantine with her parents (Gil Bellows from Ally McBeal and Rya Kihlstedt from Heroes Reborn – Ava’s real-life parents), who unbeknownst to her have decided to separate.

August 22 Episode 2 – “#RelationshipGoals”

James reacts to the video of the Ahmaud Arbery shooting. Nanda reconnects with her estranged son, who has returned home to live in her guest house after losing his job. When Elle decides she can’t take a backseat to Oscar’s budding romance, she finally tells Oscar how she truly feels. Paul and Sarah try to cheer up Sophie after a breakup.

August 23 – Episode 1 – “Seriously Now”

Oscar feels a fracture in his friendship with Elle as she gets to know their downstairs neighbor Adam. Sarah and Sophie both find out a secret Paul has been keeping. Nanda attempts to repair her son’s relationship with his father. Tensions continue to run high as James and Sade struggle to get on the same page about their family’s future.

August 23 – Episode 2 – “Love and Protest”

James and Sade reflect on raising a Black child in the current climate in America. Paul recruits Sophie to help him throw a romantic evening. Elle and Oscar navigate their new relationship.

August 23 – The PBS series Endeavour will air its season finale at 9 PM

August 23 – The Chi will air its season finale on Showtime at 9 PM

August 23 – The season finale of Yellowstone will air on the Paramount Network at 9 PM

August 23 – NOS4A2 will air its season finale on both AMC and BBC America at 10 PM

August 25 – The two-hour season premiere of The Haves and the Have Nots will air on OWN at 8 PM

August 28 – The Apple TV+ drama Little Voice will air its season finale

August 28 – Season 1 and season 2 of Cobra Kai will debut on Netflix (the series originally aired on YouTube)

August 30 – The summer finale of Wynonna Earp will air on Syfy at 10 PM
