STUPID

Roz: What is the team doing thinking that even as they take down the bad guys that they’d be safe? I don’t love how Jane’s been shot and Weller is captured as a narrative tool.

Lisa: Yeah, they seem to be making dumb mistakes as a result of their bickering and loss of focus. I can’t believe Weller was taken and Jane is shot. What the hell is going to happen next?

Rueben: To me it was a little too convenient that Zapata remembered that one cold case that led them to the chemicals that led to the scientist, et al. I know they needed to get there, but our departed from reason with this show is a big stretch.

Cay: I found myself thinking back to 9 years ago and wondering if there was a specific day that I remember. But I can’t say that I remember anything about the first day of a job that I was at for 9 years that happened very close to the date that Zapata started at the FBI. OTOH, my first day at work was very anti-climatic compared to hers… I was just annoyed to find that she was even more obnoxious then than now.

AWESOME

Roz: READE! My love for him is probably well known, but it was a great way to still have him in the show even if Reade is not with the team any more.

Cay: Rich for the win! I love that he’s the one basically in charge of group morale and that he’s trying so hard to make the best of things for everyone. I also really liked that Zapata confided in him and that he managed not to spill her secret to Patterson. It was also funny to see that Zapata was not impressed with Patterson at first meet.

Lisa: Rich is always awesome, but I really loved the flashback with Reade. I loved seeing how he and Zapata met. I hope we have more flashbacks like that this season.

Rueben: Weren’t we just saying last week that we hoped we would see Reade again, and hopefully in a flashback? We definitely got that tonight! Seeing how Reade and Zapata first met was a lot of fun; as well as seeing Patterson with that crazy hairstyle. Priceless! Also Rich deflecting Patterson trying to grill him about what’s going on between him an Zapata. I enjoyed that.

SO SO

Roz: How many things can we all assume Madeline is planning? Having Weller’s daughter and ex-wife missing/in danger right now seems too coincidental.

Lisa: I can’t think of a word strong enough to say how much I despise Madeline. *Grrr* I can’t believe Zapata is pregnant! Wow! What a way to carry on Reade’s legacy but I just don’t know how to feel about that.

Rueben: Not sure how I feel about Zapata being pregnant, as they are in such a tenuous and dangerous situation with being hunted by Burke’s goons and being wanted fugitives.

Cay: I’m not sure how I feel about Zapata’s pregnancy, but it sets a bit of a timeline up for them to vindicate themselves. Really hoping for no “really special episode” where she’s giving birth in the season finale while the rest of the team fights for their lives.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: I’m willing to accept that Weller may crack under that interrogation, but I wish he wouldn’t. We’re pulling so many big punches and it’s only a third of the way through (or so?). What else are we going to expect before this is all over?

Cay: While there were some cool things in this episode, such as seeing how the team all met and having Reade “back”, I’m actually feeling like I’m over Zapata-Reade. Maybe that’s heartless but it’s probably just because I find her character annoying. I found my attention waning as the episode progressed and then by the end when it got exciting, my focus definitely wasn’t there. Maybe that’s just me, or maybe it should have been moving a bit faster plot-wise. I’d have been totally on board for Rich’s hypnosis routine!

Lisa: Me too Cay! I’m all for Rich’s hypnosis routine. We all need more Rich Dotcom in our world.  Next week is going to be a nail biter for sure. Will Weller crack and sell out the team? How is Jane after being shot? How the hell are they going to get Weller out?

Rueben: I just knew that something was going to happen to one of them (Weller, Jane and/or Zapata) as they split up at the end of the episode in order to get back to the bunker; but I certainly wasn’t expecting Weller to get taken by Burke’s goons or for that matter that Jane got shot. It’s going to be an intense episode next week. I also have to admit that I wonder how much more story will be spent on Bethany (Weller’s little girl) and her being in the hospital.

BLINDSPOT will be back with an all-new episode on June 11th at 9/8c on NBC.
