A Million Little Things: “Mothers and Daughters”
A Million Little Things aired a new episode on Thursday night.
Here is a synopsis for season two, episode 18: Mothers and Daughters
Eddie becomes obsessed with trying to resolve mistakes from his past, and Shelly and Delilah both take on planning a baby shower for Regina as Eve gives her and Rome shocking news. Meanwhile, Maggie’s new venture has her rethinking her relationship with Gary.
Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode:
Cay:
I think one of the high points in this episode for me was Delilah telling Sophie about the new guy – watching them have an honest discussion as adults showed that they’ve gotten through the worst of the issues in their relationship now and have a good foundation to build.
Watching the flashbacks at the lake house really made me wonder what Katherine saw in Eddie in the first place – he clearly had a lot of issues! Yeah, I understand that some girls go for the “bad boy”, but she really doesn’t seem the type. They are setting things up to suggest that Alex’s death was just an unfortunate accident due to both she and Eddie being drunk and high. I really hope that this is the case, rather than him having a more direct role. However, regardless, I worry this will lead him back down a bad path when he finally was getting stuff together a bit in his life.
While I’m okay with Katherine and Eddie renewing their vows, I don’t understand why they are making such a big deal about it – it seems like too much. But I guess it’s a statement to the world that their relationship is strong despite the challenges they faced. Still, couldn’t this be done without Katherine at home altering her own wedding dress?
It really looks like Maggie may leave and go to Oxford. While I definitely like Maggie, I actually like “the new woman” quite a bit as well. It sure seems like Maggie is mourning the relationship more than Gary at this point, although obviously he’s not completely over her, as evidenced by last week and his response to seeing the painting she left for Katherine. Speaking of which, that looked like something from a paint bar – I can’t see Katherine hanging that up in her new law office!
Regina’s mother is SO ANNOYING! I wish she would have died instead of Rome’s mother! Rome’s concerns were interesting – I think all soon-to-be parents probably have some concerns, but once they are pregnant, it’s going to happen regardless. An adoption might seem more like a marriage – intended to be forever, but technically you can back out at the last minute. So maybe more of an issue with cold feet? Or just Rome? It’s definitely going to be hard for Regina and Rome to just have Eve drop out of their life after they’ve developed such a relationship.
Rueben:
First of all, yes, I agree, that Regina’s mom is just such a pain. She may mean well; but it all comes out the wrong way. At least she came around at the end of the baby shower, but I think that was a little too late given all she’s done.
I had a feeling that Rome wasn’t going to sign on the dotted line for that SUV (“don’t say mini van”) once that father and son started arguing at the dealership. I didn’t expect him to have a mini-meltdown over it though. I’m pretty sure it’s cold feet, something that I’m sure all newly expecting parents feel. I was a little taken aback by Eve’s decision, but at the same time, it only makes sense because she’s givin up her child – to wonderful, decent people – but she’s still giving up the baby all the same. I don’t think that Regina or Rome are going to be able to cut the ties with Eve, though.
I feel the same way, Cay, about Darcy. I actually like her just as much as Maggie; but they are making it seem like Maggie is definitely leaving for Oxford, especially after she saw Gary kissing Darcy at his doorstep. I can’t imagine that she’s going to think about anything but getting away. Truth be told, I didn’t want to like Darcy because she was going to be the rebound for Gary, but I really like her.
This whole renewing the vows thing seems a bit rushed; and I agree, why is Katherine altering her wedding dress herself. Why not just get a nice new dress? Does it have to be her wedding dress? Given all that Eddie is experiencing with that girl from 20 years ago (the dreams, uncertainty, et al) WHY are they rushing this renewing of vows? I have a feeling, given the reaction by the father of that dead girl toward Eddie and Lindsay, that they think Eddie played a hand in their daughter’s death. What in the ever-loving h*ll happened that night?
