Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Roundtable: Zoey’s Extraordinary Boss
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist is back after a month and we are truly excited to see what they do with this show. Roz and I (and occasionally Mel) will be covering each week with the things that were Music To Our Ears and the things that were more Nails On A Chalkboard. Join us won’t you?
Zoey must decide whether or not to get involved in her boss’s Joan’s troubled marriage after she hears Joan sing a “heart song.” Zoey creates a new program for the family to communicate with Mitch, but when his first word is not what they expected, Maggie reaches a breaking point.
Music To Our Ears
Roz: Do I want to hug Maggie all through this episode? She is going through so much and not asking for anyone else to help until she has to.
Also, Mo in that Queen Latifiah outfit as the DJ at that first party is amazing!
Leah: I really like Zoey’s family scenes. That dynamic interspersed with her work life really works so well. It’s really all if the supporting players, her “loves”, her boss, her family. All work to make this a full character show. Also I love that a boss on a show didn’t react in the way they usually do when an employee “meddles”. Refreshing.
Nails On The Chalkboard
Roz: Can we all agree that punching Charlie Bennett is the best outcome? G-d do I hate him and what he makes Joan go through week after week?
Leah: How many more weeks do we have to have Zoey not get a reference. The Louboutin shoes….who doesn’t know what those are?
Music
Roz: Both “Satisfaction” and “Jesus Christ Superstar” were so well used that I wanted to yell when I first watched in January. They’re both fitting for the mood of the episode and great songs, one which I don’t think gets enough attention.
