LOTS OF NEW DRAMA

The following are the new dramas debuting next month that I am eager to watch:

January 7 – The new NBC drama Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will debut at 10 PM. Suburgatory star Jane Levy is the title lead, a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in the tech world of San Francisco. After an unexpected event, she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through music. People are unknowingly singing their feelings through popular songs — just to her. The cast includes Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham and Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect franchise).

January 10 – The new NBC drama Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector will debut at 8 PM. The series stars Grimm alum Russell Hornsby as the title lead, a forensic criminologist who suffers near-fatal injuries on the job, leaving him a paraplegic. He works with rookie NYPD detective Amelia Sachs (Arielle Kebbel from NBC’s Midnight, Texas). The cast includes Grimm actress Claire Coffee and The Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli.

January 19 – The special night debut of 9-1-1: Lone Star, the spin-off from 9-1-1, airs on FOX at 10 PM. Rob Lowe is Owen Strand, a New York firefighter who, along with his son, relocate to Austin, Texas where he must balance his work life with solving the problems in his own life. The cast includes Liv Tyler from The Lord of the Rings franchise and JIm Parrack of True Blood fame.

January 30 – The Netflix series The Stranger will debut online, starring Richard Armitage (Ocean’s 8 and Berlin Station) along with Killjoy’s alum Hannah John-Kamen. The series is a mystery thriller about the devastating impact a secret told to a man by a mysterious stranger takes on his perfect life.

A NEW JANE AUSTEN STORY

January 12 – The two-hour debut of Sanditon, based on the unfinished book by Jane Austen, will debut on PBS at 9 PM. This 8-part mini-series tells the story of Tom Parker, who is obsessed with turning the sleepy seaside village of Sanditon into a fashionable health resort, enlists the backing of local bigwig Lady Denham. Through a mishap, he makes the acquaintance of the Heywoods, inviting their eldest daughter Charlotte for an extended stay. The cast includes Theo James from the Divergent franchise and Rose Williams from The CW’s Reign.

COMING TO AN END

January 14 – The final two parts of Crisis on Infinite Earths will air on The CW at 8 and 9 PM, starting with Arrow and finishing with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

January 28 – The one-hour special Arrow: Finale Preview will air on The CW at 8 PM followed by the show’s series finale at 9 PM.
