Holiday Bingo: A Wish For Christmas Edition

By  |

The Nice Girls TV Holiday Bingo Marathon continues! With Christmas almost upon us and some free time up my sleeve, this Nice Girl is pulling out her Nice Girls TV Holiday Movie Bingo cards and making her way through as many Christmas movies as she can. As part of this marathon, I’ll be watching a collection of movies that have dropped this year and some that have dropped in recent years and sharing my viewing experience. There will be spoilers. So if you don’t want to be spoiled about the movie, don’t read any further! With four different cards to play along with this year, you too can join in on the fun!

For my next Holiday Movie Bingo Marathon pick, I’m going back to 2016 with the Hallmark Channel film A Wish For Christmas starring Lacey Chabert, Paul Greene and Andrea Brooks. (So weird seeing Brooks in a Hallmark film after watching her on Supergirl!) Lacey plays sweet Sara, who has trouble expressing how she really feels. As a result, she is always being taken advantage of. After her boss steals yet another one of her ideas and passes it off as his own, Sara asks Santa to grant her courage to stand up for herself. Her wish is granted for 48 hours – just in time for her to be part of an important work pitch. But what will happen once the 48 hours are up? For this film, I randomly selected Holiday Movie Bingo Card #2. Here we go…

The first category to be marked off my card is Lead Actor Has Appeared in 2 or More Hallmark Movies. Lacey Chabert is a Hallmark Movie queen – we’ve lost count of how many of these feel good films she has appeared in, but it’s definitely more than two! Her co-star Paul Greene is also no stranger to the Hallmark Movie world and has a few of these films up his sleeve too.

Lead Character Hates Christmas – Right off the bat, we discover that company head (and romantic lead), Peter, is kind of a grinch. He works on Christmas and doesn’t seem to care that his employees work on Christmas too. We’re sure reasons will be revealed by the end of the film.

Lead Character Has a Creative/Artistic Job – Sara is a junior web designer but has lots of great ideas for many of the company’s marketing campaigns. Tick! Tick!

Lead Character is a Workaholic – Working on Christmas Day screams workaholic to us, so that covers Peter. Also, Sara’s inability to say no to others and take on more of her fair share of work is pretty workaholic behavior too, right?

Santa is Real – Sara thinks that it’s just a Santa that the company hired for the staff Christmas party that gives her the secret Santa gift, but when her wish comes true, she realises that this Santa is the real deal!

Story Set in Pacific Northwest – Sara and Peter are based in Chicago and travel to Seattle for business.

Small Town Boy/Girl Returns From the Big City + Forced to Spend the Night in a Small Town – Sara and Peter’s mission to land a big client sees them end up in the small town of White Ridge. Unbeknownst to Sara, this is actually Peter’s home town and his aunt owns the inn that they’re staying at. Turns out that Peter left home after an argument with his father and he hasn’t been back to White Ridge since.

Holiday Baked Goods – After much persuading from his aunt, Sara and Peter end up at Peter’s parents place where they decorate cookies and are treated to Peter’s mom’s fancy Hot Cocoa.

Dead Parent – Sara reveals that her dad passed away six years ago. She was close to him and considered him her best friend.

Meaningful Discussion Over Hot Cocoa or Tea or Egg Nog – Quite a few revelations come out while drinking hot cocoa!

Christmas Caroling – With a town name like White Ridge, it’d be a crime not to hear Christmas carols as you walk down Main Street!

Kiss Under the Mistletoe – Sara and Peter finally give in to their feelings at the end of the film and in true Christmas spirit, there is mistletoe involved!

So many close encounters! Did you play along? Let us know how you went and which card you used in the comments! Plus, if you’re inspired to rewatch this movie, A Wish For Christmas, is airing on the Hallmark Channel on December 29 at 12pm/11c!

Ange is the Girl from Oz who travelled the States. Teen dramas, rom-comedies and superhero shows are her weakness. She also loves a good crime and medical drama and probably watches more TV than she can handle... You can contact her at ange@nicegirlstv.com.
