Salute to Rising Stars

By  |

It’s that time again to salute those actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work, those actresses who are rising stars. Landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.

Let’s take a look at the next two actresses who viewers should keep their eye on:

Willa Fitzgerald

Willa is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She got her BA in theater studies from Yale University in 2013. Her first big break came in the popular blue-sky USA Network drama Royal Pains where she played the half-sister of the lead characters. She followed that up with a recurring role in the Amazon Prime political satire web series Alpha House.

Before landing a series regular role in the MTV, later VH1, thriller Scream: The TV Series – the small screen adaptation of the box office franchise, Willa appeared in epsidoes of Gotham and Bull as well as a couple episodes of the go90 series Relationship Status.

In 2017, she played Meg March in the PBS adaptation of Little Women followed by guest appearances in House of Cards, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Younger.

She starred alongside Nicole Kidman and Ansel Elgort in this year’s box office film The Goldfinch, and can be seen in the Netflix anthology Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings where she plays Maddie Hawkins opposite Once Upon a Time alum Colin O’Donoghue.

Her next big project is the new USA Network drama Dare Me based on the mystery novel written by Megan Abbott, which will debut on December 29.

Tracy Ifeachor

Tracy, who is of Nigerian descent, was born in England and has a background in theatre and British television. Her big break came when she appeared in the final two episodes of Doctor Who, starring David Tennant as the immortal time traveler.

She appeared in two episodes of Strike Back in 2012 and followed that up with a role in the short-lived John Malkovich drama Crossbones and a guest appearance in Hawaii Five-0.

She turned heads in her recurring role of Aya Al-Rashid in The Originals, then had a recurring role in Quantico and later appeared in the role of Kuasa on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
