STUMPTOWN Roundtable: Dex, Drugs and Rock & Roll
Stumptown fans! Join Nice Girls Roz, Leah and Lisa while we discuss this episode of Stumptown – “Dex, Drugs and Rock & Roll” which focused on the following:
When Dex’s ex Fiona, a famous musician, comes into town for a performance, Dex must protect her from a stalker. Meanwhile, Grey continues to receive the cold shoulder from Dex, and Tookie and Lieutenant Cosgrove develop a new friendship.
The Good
Lisa: Fiona X! I loved the famous singer-ex girlfriend storyline. I also found the new friendship between Tookie and Lt. Cosgrove to be refreshing. Unpredictable friendships are always the best ones to see. And was anyone else wishing they could try the mole sauce?
Leah: How fantastic was the Tookie/Cosgrove friendship? I haven’t been a fan of Cosgrove up until this point, but unless she royally messes up I’m in her corner. She had an actual personality this episode and was the perfect person to play against Tookie! Loved. It. You know what else I loved…seeing how far Dex has actually grown. She is still a mess and that’s okay, but she was once more of a mess. This Dex we have now is progress.
Roz: I’m all for this B-plot this week between Tookie and the LT. She’s been such an odd presence on the show to this point, but I think she’s starting to get flushed out and that is a good thing for the show.
The Bad
Lisa: The tension between Dex and Grey is effecting Ansel and I feel so bad for him. They need to work out their issues and try to mend their friendship. I understand why Dex is upset but I hope she can find it in her heart to forgive him sooner rather than later.
Leah: I’m unhappy with Dex and Grey “fighting”. The thing I hate THE MOST is when someone says, “I don’t know you at all.” That is a ridiculous statement when Dex does know Grey, she is just hurt.
Roz: Whatever forced anger between Dex and Grey can’t be good for the show; we need tension between the characters, but this version after the lies Grey told and whatever is going on with this new woman is just old tropes that don’t play well on TV.
Final Thoughts
Leah: Thank you Lisa! I felt like Grey’s new gal is shady somehow? The whole meet-cute was contrived and I don’t know what the deal is but she is duplicitous!
Lisa: How cute was Hoffman teaching Dex to bowl? I’m curious to see where their relationship will go since appears that Hoffman wants more than a fling. Will Dex give in to the sexy Hoffman? I know I would. lol Also, I’m not sold on Grey’s new love interest. I don’t trust her. I feel like she has a secret motive. We have to wait 2 weeks for the next episode but I think the Friendsgiving theme will be festive and fun.
Roz: I just like how Dex isn’t always the shining example of a perfect person; it’s refreshing to see flawed characters who admit that they’re not fine all the time.
