THE GOOD PLACE Roundtable: A Chip Driver Mystery

The Good Place continues its final season with a brand new episode this week. Check out our thoughts below. Here’s the official [extremely vague] synopsis:

One of the new residents creates a division in the ranks.

We’re going to divide our thoughts on this episode into three self-explanatory categories – The Good Place, The Medium Place, and The Bad Place, plus a final category for favorite quotes or overall thoughts.

The Good Place

Cay: I just thought this whole episode was pretty clever – the book was a great parody of so many out there plus it emphasized all the things we all detest about Brent and everyone like him.

Roz: I’m all about this episode and the frame of Brent’s book for what we hate about him.

Christie: So far I’d say this is the best episode of the season, and feels more like episodes from seasons past. It’ll be interesting to see how they finally get Brent on track. I think my favorite part was the conversation between Michael and Bad Janet. I wish we had seen more of them.

Bad Place

Roz: Brent is always the worst and he was so awful this week. Can we put men like this in the trash and keep them there?

Christie: I hate Brent. Not only do I hate him as a character, I hate him as a caricature of the types of men we complain about on social media so often.

The Medium Place

Christie: The whole Bad Janet farting thing. I find her schtick to be a bit old, and I actually preferred it when she spoke like a grownup with Michael.

Roz: Bad Janet’s farting is wearing on me as Chrstie said.

Final Thoughts & Quotes We Loved

Roz: Brent’s fishing for complos was great, and awful at the same time and I wish we could see more of what comes of this right now.

Christie: I really have little to complain about, this was a great episode. 

My favorite quote this week is this exchange:

“Do you know what’s happening literally right now on Earth? Wars, murders, women in $400 yoga pants are refusing to vaccinate their children, vindictive nerds at Apple are changing the charger cable shape again! Where does this hope come from man? This insane hope that people are worth the trouble? To quote a terrible song by a terrible musician that people love so much they constantly put it in terrible movie trailers, humans are b-b-b-bad to the bone!”

“Well I think that they’re g-g-g-good sometimes, and you should give them the b-b-b-benefit of the d-d-d-doubt!”
