STUMPTOWN Roundtable: Missed Connections

New Fall Prime-Time TV is back! Join us while we discuss the next episode of Stumptown –  “Missed Connections”

Dex is hired by a wealthy man to search for a woman whom he recently met, but she quickly learns that the task is not as simple as it seems. Meanwhile, Dex and Grey’s history unfolds.

The Good
Roz Using Ansel’s phone was a stroke of genius to get to Allen in the end. But I also love that the first part of the con team was Zosia Mamet (from Girls)

Leah I loved the flashbacks. I like that Grey was almost immediately there for her. She called him after standing him up and he still picked her up. That was a great way to show exactly how much she has come to rely on him.

Lisa: I really enjoyed the flashback scenes where we learned how Dex and Grey met. Are we surprised that their friendship started off with a hookup? lol Also the scene where Dex kicked the kidnapper’s ass in the hotel room was awesome! I love seeing her kick ass! She doesn’t come across as the most well trained fighter but she is a scrapper and starts grabbing whatever she can to fight back and it’s so real (I don’t know about the potato chips in the flashback robbery scene though. Chips aren’t the best thing to grab in a fight lol).

The Bad
Roz Dex is reckless, which is great in most cases, but these cases are probably too dangerous for this sort of spur of the moment work.

Leah The fact that Dex doesn’t win all her fights makes me wonder what in the world made her think she should go anywhere by herself. She needs to call the cops every now and again!

Lisa: Even though the end result worked out, it was dumb as hell for Dex to go to the hotel room by herself to get Mr. moneybags. She should have called Detective Miles for back up (and we would have seen more of Michael Ealy so that would have been a win win).

Final Thoughts
Roz That Grey’s friend from prison wound up dead doesn’t bode well for things in the next few weeks.

Lisa: Who was the woman Dectective Miles was talking to in his office? I feel like they want us to think that is his wife or girlfriend, but I think there is more to the story. I’ll be interested to find out who she is. Also, now that Grey’s gold tooth friend was found dead, what is he going to do about his debt? Will he have to sell the bar?
