Do You Remember?: Hindsight
Some programs air on TV for what is called a “blink and you miss them” moment in time. That is truly the case for the comedy-drama Hindsight that aired on VH1 back in 2015.
Blink…and you missed it!
Hindsight was created by Emily Fox, who worked on the other short-lived ABC Family (now known as Freeform) series Jane By Design as well as working behind the scenes on Ghost Whisperer, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The series starred Laura Ramsey (Lords of Dogtown, The Ruins and The Covenant) as Becca Brady who, while wrestling with doubts on the eve of her second wedding, found herself sent back to 1995. Specifically, Becca found that she had time traveled to the day of her first wedding, a marriage that ended in divorce.
Upon her arrival in 1995, Becca reunited with her best friend Lolly (Sarah Goldberg, who has since gone on to appear in Barry alongside Bill Hader) [from whom she has become estranged in present day]. In this “new” version of 1995 for Becca, she broke off her engagement to her first husband (played by Legend of the Seeker star Craig Horner), and resolved to use her trip back in time to correct what she saw as personal and professional mistakes.
The main cast included John Patrick Amedori (who has since appeared in Dear White People) as Jamie Brady, Becca’s brother; Jessy Hodges (who has since appeared in Graves and Barry) as Melanie Morelli and Drew Sidora (who has since appeared as T-Boz in the made-for-TV movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story) as Paige Hill.
Some of the recurring cast included:
Donna Murphy, Tony winner, who provided the voice for Mother Gothel in the animated movie Tangled
Brian Kerwin from the box office movies 27 Dresses and The Help
Briana Venskus, Agent Piper from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Vasquez on Supergirl
Alexandra Chando from The Lying Game and Sneaky Pete
Steve Talley, who has in Pretty Little Liars, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and The 100
Mario Cantone, who appeared in Sex and the City
The show received mostly favorable reviews being called “breezy” with an intriguing premise by Variety. Rolling Stone praised the relationship between Becca and Lolly and noted the “show’s use of ‘90s pop culture archetypes to invoke nostalgia” as the show was heavily laced with lots of music from the 90s. The New York Times called the show “clever” affecting and sly.”
It should also be noted that Hindsight featured a companion/spin-off web series during its run called Planet Sebastian that played as a public access style talk show hosted by Sebastian Wexler, a character featured on Hindsight. The episodes streamed on the VH1 website.
While the show was given a second season renewal by VH1 on March 16, 2015. Sadly that was rescinded in August 2015 when the show was cancelled due to a change in leadership at the network.

You can also check out this great article/interview with show creator Emily Fox, which was written by Leona Laurie for Geek Girl Authority back in May of 2017 that focused on some of the lingering cliffhangers that should have been resolved.
Hindsight aired for only 10 episodes on VH1 from January 7 to March 11, 2015. Do you remember Hindsight?
