The InBetween Roundtable: “The Devil’s Refugee”

By  |

A new episode of The InBetween aired on NBC on Wednesday night, and the synopsis of that episode is as follows:

Cassie, Tom and Damien investigate the cold case disappearance of Millie (guest star, Berkeley Ratzlaff) and soon realize that her disappearance may involve an old acquaintance, Ed Roven.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Rueben: Ed Roven for falling for Cassie pushing him to the limits, then showing her what happened to poor Millie. Sure, he did exactly what Cassie needed him to do, but it just showed how stupid he was or more to the point psychotic.

Lisa: Yes Rueben! Mr. Peter Rabbit was so stupid to fall for that trick. I have to say, last week I felt the creep factor was down but they brought it back full force tonight! *shiver* Anytime that Ed is around it’s pretty creepy.

Leah: You guys are so right. I mean the whole idea that he thought somehow he could do a favor here and there and then be “redeemed” was already ridiculous, but he showed his true colors this time for sure. Creepy. Creepy. Creepy.

AWESOME

Rueben: Cassie’s vision this time were unsettling to say the least. Harriet Dyer does such a great job in portraying just how harsh Cassie’s visions can be. Oh, and kudos to Cassie for standing up to Tom when she said “am I the little girl you want to protect or the woman who helps you solve crimes, you can’t have it both ways.” She really gave it to her adopted dad.

Lisa: I have to agree Harriet Dyer is phenomenal! I also thought the scene where Cassie maced the creep who called her a witch and threatened to “cut her eyes out.”  I was yelling “go girl!” at the screen. I love when she kicks ass! On a softer note, I also loved that Damien gave her a pep talk before she summoned Ed Roven. I think it is pretty awesome how supportive and accepting he is of her abilities.

Leah: Rueben…..I completely agree about Damien. He’s awesome that he is so on board and doesn’t even question the idea that Cassie is seeing what she says she sees. The show gets props for making the special effects so great too, Cassie’s visions are often quite terrifying.

SO SO

Rueben: When Tom went to see Roven’s copy cat killer – the guy in the prison – he told Tom that he didn’t hear Roven in his ear only to have Roven talk into his ear once he was back in his cell. Saw that coming before it happened. Meh!

Lisa: Yeah that was Meh for me too. I will have to say that did give me an extra dose of the chills knowing that Ed Roven – Mr. Creeptastic Peter Rabbit- can influence someone alive. That crazy mind needs to be gone for good.

Leah: Ditto!

YOUR THOUGHTS

Rueben: I was pleased for that family that after all those years they could finally know what happened to Millie. It was only referenced briefly during the episode, but I’m worried for Brian, given that the steroids aren’t helping shrink his tumor. I’m concerned that the surgery might not go well.

Lisa: Yes, what will happen to Brian? Will Ed Roven ever go away? Lawd it seems like we will have to deal with his crazy for awhile. He is the permanent resident of the In Between.  Also, will we ever see anything about Damian’s fiancée? I really had high hopes for that storyline and it just fizzled out.
