JETT: Thoughts on Episode 7 “Rosalie”
Jett was all new – check out our thoughts on episode 7
Bennie finds himself keeping close company with Rosalie; Jett faces a major detour on her latest job.
People – there is going to be some swears below because this episode was off the f*cking rails – be forewarned.
First can we talk about the sheer amount of urine in this episode? Did I ever think I was going to type that? No, no I did not, but here we are. Three separate characters peed or were peed on. Not okay.
Rosalie & Bennie
So Rosalie is damaged – like we should capitalize Damage. She is equal parts tired of men using and abusing her and also submissive and nurturing. She has Bennie chained to the wall of his own apartment. He is not amused. He is less amused when she won’t let him go to the bathroom. Pee sighting number 1. She makes him pee in a bucket and then threatens to pour it on his head. Yuck. She further gets annoyed with him when he tries to yell for help. Pee sighting number 2. SHE PEES ON HIM. Shen then gives him a sponge bath and decides he would like it if she rides him. So she does that. Bennie manages to get his hands out of the cuffs and throws her off of him. Rosalie tells him it is okay if he wants to hit her. Bennie is his own kind of damaged but he also has a code. It’s like those super catholic mafia guys. They will kill a man or have a mistress, but divorce is out of the question. Bennie has that whole polite gangster vibe going. She should be scared, but also he isn’t going to hurt her.
Bennie finally free means he has to get to work, Charlie is wondering where he is. This is what I love about this show – Bennie tells Charlie everything EVERYTHING and Charlie’s only question was regarding the sponge bath.
At the end of the episode Rosalie calls Bennie, she somehow now has his cell number, to let him know she is thinking about him and he should come over as she is just lying there waiting.
Kudos to Christopher Backus and Lucy Walters for making the whole interaction cringe worthy, which it was meant to be.
Jett, Vickie and her Boyfriend
I refuse to learn peoples names so Vickie’s boyfriend is VB from now on. He kidnapped Jett, but he also left her alone on the couch long enough to get free and knock him out. Jett is less than amused by this whole situation and realizes VB will continue to be a problem….so she kills him. enter Vicki. Pee sighting number 3. After Vickie pees, thankfully in a toilet, Jett puts a gun to her head. She then holds Vickie’s head under water until she is ready to tell the whole truth. Jett isn’t a killer by nature though, she is a thief. After she is sure Vickie has told her everything she lets Vickie go. No need for a higher body count.
The completely cool and calm way that Jett handles everything is so fascinating to watch. Natalie Hall did a great job holding her own against Carla Gugino and that can’t be easy.
P.S. the interesting tidbit Jett got from Vickie is the car she stole – belongs to Charlie. Bestic clearly has a plan and Jett is executing it for him.
Maria, Phoenix and Alice
Things aren’t looking great for Alice in the heath department. She and Phoenix have some late night talks when they can’t sleep. Later they take Alice with them to the grocery store where Neal is. He is creepy enough that even Alice has a bad vibe from him. They run him off with Maria telling him to stay away from her family. I thought Phoenix might cry at hearing someone call her family is a good way.
The problem is Neal follows them home. I don’t see this going well next week.
Detective Guy
I know, I should have learned his name but I haven’t. He doesn’t take Josie beheading very well. So badly that he is waiting outside one of Junior’s henchmen’s house. When the henchman won’t back off detective guy shoots him right there in the street. My sister looked at me and said, “Well he did warn the guy. He had a chance to go away.”
The separate stories are all starting to come together Can’t wait to see how the last two episodes play out.
Follow along here for our continued coverage through the season.
