Comic-Con 2019: Grant Gustin talks Nora, Crossovers, Superman and The Flash Season 6

We sat down with the cast and showrunner of The Flash at Comic-Con 2019 to talk about where we left the residents of Central City at the end of last season and get the scoop on the new season.

Grant Gustin gave us a lot of info about season 6. Following the end of season 5, Barry and Iris start out separate in their grief over Nora, then come together. He suspects that Barry knew from the minute that Nora showed up that it would end badly.

The Monitor (this season’s Big Bad, played by LaMonica Garrett) will show up early on and announce that Barry has to die to save the Multiverse which sets up the crossover. Grant said he dreads the crossovers because of the logistics – he could end up shooting for more than one show on the same day, and because everyone is needed everywhere, they end up acting alongside a lot of stand-ins rather than the other actors.

He’s really excited to work with Brandon Routh as Superman. Grant recalled that he’d just gotten his driver’s license when Routh’s Superman movie was in theaters, so he went and saw it at a midnight showing.

The Flash returns Tuesday, October 8 at 8/7c on the CW.
