BLOOD & TREASURE: Observations From “Return of the Queen”

By  |

Blood & Treasure was all new on Tuesday night. Check out our thoughts on the episode below.

The trail of Cleopatra’s sarcophagus leads Danny and Lexi to the Bermuda Triangle, where a contact of Shaw’s offers assistance tracking down a smuggler’s plane that vanished years earlier. Also, Gwen attracts unwanted attention when she investigates a suspicious money transfer.

Danny, Lexi & Shaw
I love that they are getting along and on the same page. There is enough outside crap going on they don’t need to be fighting or untrusting of each other anymore. They think they have a lead on Cleopatra from the Nazi guy who shot Fabi. So they use their FBI contact (the same one that had them arrested a few episodes back) and get some old recordings of Sanchez. He is the narc

o that bought Cleopatra from the last Nazi guy. Turns out Sanchez’s plane went down in the Bermuda Triangle. Of course that means Danny & Lexi are headed that way. Not before Shaw can insist on coming along. That’s right….Shaw is back! He took the Doctor to Norway from Casablanca, spent a week with her and her family living it up, and now he is back and wants in. He heard they found Antony and he happens to have a friend in the Bermuda Triangle that can help them track Sanchez.
They get to the island, find Shaw’s friend and set out to look for where Sanchez’s plane went down. They of course find it, but what is surprising is they actually find Cleopatra as well. Their win is short lived however as Shaw’s “friend” turns on them. Ties them up and takes Cleopatra. He doesn’t make it far though – when Team Danny & Lexi get free they find the guys dead on the beach and no sign of Cleopatra.

Gwen
She is fully on Team Danny & Lexi now. They are sharing information and everything. She tells Danny she found a shell company transfering payments to a Zara Farouk. She barely gets into the paperwork when the same lady who kicked Danny & Lexi’s behinds in Cuba shows up. I had more faith in Gwen’s fighting abilities. She is laid out in no time and the lady takes off with anything related to Zara Farouk. Gwen is resourceful though and she manages to track the lady down. With the help of Italian Police she is going to grab the lady and whomever she is meeting. That obviously doesn’t go to plan, but something does come out of it. She sees Reece’s head of security and even more damning he drops a cuff link. It’s a cuff link Reece gives to family, friends and employees high up in his business.

Reece
Antony was moved to the museum Reece runs, owns, has – whatever it is Antony is there and Dr. Castillo is back to run the tests on Antony. Reece assures Danny this is safe. They have an army’s worth of guards. He was wrong. Someone shuts down the cameras ans steals Antony. Danny assumes this is The Brotherhood and Lexi assumes this is Farouk.

Hardwick
Poor Hardwick is still upset at having killed a man – even if that man was Farouk. Danny, Lexi and Shaw go to visit him to ask for his recordings of The Brotherhood. He reluctantly agrees. That will be next week’s adventure I’m sure.

Flashbacks
We do get an important flashback in this episode. We see how Reece and Danny met. It appears that Danny was the recipient of a scholarship that Reece funded. He gave Danny a pair of the cuff links that we later see Gwen find one of. We also see Danny at the grave of Lexi’s Father. He is telling Reece he is going to make this right. Reece tells him someone has to take the fall for the botched Farouk investigation and unfortunately it will be him. Danny doesn’t know what he will do, but Reece assures him he will give him a job and everything will be okay.
