Good Witch Recap: “The Tea”

By  |

We are now five episodes in on the 5th season of Good Witch on the Hallmark Channel; and the focus of this episode was on Cassie trying to help new guests at Grey House come to terms with their changing friendship and Martha dealing with an artist painting her portrait.

Meanwhile, Nick and Grace both received mail from their top college choices with Nick getting accepted but Grace being rejected. The latter, of course, hit Grace pretty hard causing her some problems with her internship at Martha’s office. While Nick was nervous about not having much practical experience in developing video games.

Both teens were given assignments, of a sort, to help them along. George told Nick that if he could restore his old truck from his days in high school then he could keep the classic vehicle while Grace was given a team building project by Martha, working with fellow intern Luke (whose mission to get something from the Merriwick family went unresolved) on a history of Martha’s ancestors: the Endicotts.

In the end, Nick was able – with an assist from George – to get that old truck running once again [imagine what he can do with making video games, George told him] – and Grace learned that her mom’s alma mater accepted her as a new student.

Since the episode was entitled “The Tea,” Cassie’s last brew ended up helping new guests Paige and Chelsea, who were staying at Grey House for a girls’ weekend before Chelsea’s upcoming nuptials. It would seem that the long-time best friends were growing apart because of Chelsea’s obsession with her fiancé and soon-to-be wedding. Despite leading them to matching friendship necklaces and a hike in Foster’s Woods, the best friends were at odds. But a little bit of magic in the form of Princess Walkie-Talkies (an old toy of Grace’s that was to be donated soon) brought the best friends back to each other.

Cassie’s tea also seemed to help Martha’s dilemma with the artist who was painting her portrait, which would hang in the halls of the Mayor’s office. The first two drafts of the portrait weren’t exactly what Martha was hoping for, and despite quitting after the second failure, the artist came back with a revision of the portrait for which she was pleased with as was Martha.

Elsewhere, Sam was teaching a new resident at the hospital a bit about compassion and better bedside manner while Stephanie seemed to be going into the food truck business with Vincent. [I’m not sure how I feel about that pairing, as they might be okay as business partners, but I don’t see any romantic spark whatsoever). And speaking of sparks, there were plenty between Donovan and Abigail, who finally went on their first date and kissed: Davenport-Merriwick curse be damned.

What do you think Luke is up to? What are your thoughts on Stephanie and Vincent? Do you think the curse will hurt Donovan and Abigail? How are you liking the new season of Good Witch so far? Please share below.
