Burden of Truth Recap: “Hungry, Cold & Tired”

By  |

It was an intense episode of Burden of Truth on Sunday night with Luna going through quite an ordeal as she was processed after being arrested for the murder of her biological father David Hanley. What’s more her bail hearing didn’t go well with her bail being turned down by the judge and her being sent to the local prison until her next court appearance.

Joanna was determined to get her little sister out, but nothing in court went as she had anticipated. In order to try to get Luna the best deal possible, Billy went to the Crown’s lawyer, getting a 4 year plea deal if Luna plead guilty. Given the fact that she has been adamant that she didn’t kill David, was she going to be willing to take the plea deal rather than risk being sentenced to 25 years? Even her mother was telling that maybe she should take the plea bargain because their people are never treated right in the courts.

To matters even worse, when Luna’s girlfriend Molly showed up at the jail to visit her, Luna abruptly broken off their relationship, telling Molly that eventually she would come to hate her. In the end, despite lots of crying and pleading from Molly, Luna just screamed “just go!” to Molly. But will Molly actually give up on her?

What’s more, Taylor attempted to help her friend by taking her journal in to the police to show what she wrote the night of David’s murder. Unfortunately, Mercer twisted her written words – as well as her statement to him – making it out that she and Luna planned David’s murder as they drove back to Millwood from the big city. In order to save herself some jail time, Taylor was forced to agree to testify against the very friend she had gone into the police station to help.

Meanwhile, Owen has been risking his job – especially since Mercer removed Owen from Luna’s case (Owen did date Luna’s mom back in the day with Luna looking to him as a pseudo dad) – by providing details to Joanna and Billy on Luna’s case. He even went so far as to take a file of pictures from Mercer’s office, giving them to Joanna and Billy. Naturally, despite the fact that David was Joanna’s father, she began her own investigation into alternative suspects.

When it came to Luna deciding whether to take the plea deal or not, in the end, she stood before the judge stating that “I didn’t do it.” She rejected the plea, standing firm with the judge that “I am not guilty.”

Did you watch Sunday’s episode? What did you think? Do you think Luna is innocent, and if so, who could be the real murderer? Was David in the wrong place at the wrong time or did his past finally come back to get him? Do you think Mercer is going to figure out Owen is helping the defense? How far do you think Joanna will go to save her little sister? Share your thoughts in our comments section below.
