AGENTS OF SHIELD Roundtable: “Toldja”

By  |

Only 6 episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD left this season. Here’s the synopsis for this week’s episode:

After finding themselves in yet another gambling dilemma, a mysterious stranger offers Enoch and FitzSimmons a ride home where, it turns out, two shrikes aren’t better than one.

Join NiceGirls Rueben, Christie and Roz as we discuss the episode, using our ratings system known as SASSY – S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(Your Thoughts):

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

Henry Simmons as Mack. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

STUPID

Christie: I’m disappointed with Mack this week. His suspicion of Sarge clouded his judgment. With all the information he and May now had about the Shrikes, trying to force answers out of Sarge played right into his hands. I feel like Mack is better than that.

Rueben: Yeah, I have to agree, Christie. I was suspicious of Sarge the entire time and Mack should’ve been too. They should have learned more about the Shrikes before going after them both. Deke is trying too hard to win Daisy over when she is clearly oblivious to him in that way.

Roz: I can’t tell if I want to see Sarge succeed in his mission or not, but he’s making a team who is really good look foolish.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

MING-NA WEN (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

AWESOME

Christie: I feel like we finally moved the ball along on all of these different plot threads and we’re finally getting somewhere with the mystery this season. I’m glad, because it was getting really hard to watch.

Rueben: The one liners in the episode: Simmons saying “I want to go home” when they ended up in the Kitson City gambling den; Sarge saying “everyone seems to have a lot of feelings around here” as he meets the team and Sarge saying “toldja” at the very end. I also loved seeing Anthony Michael Hall even though his character was horrible to Fitz and Simmons. I enjoyed the goodbye scene between FitzSimmons and Enoch.

Roz: Enoch has grown on me so I’ll be sad to see him go, even if it means we’re closer to getting FitzSimmons back to Earth

SO SO

Christie: Anthony Michael Hall was wasted in this episode and that’s a shame.

Also — mystery traveler happens to be going exactly where you’re going and you don’t ask her motives or really any other questions before you get on a ship with her? I know your options are limited but you’re supposed to be scientists, FitzSimmons!

Rueben: Yes, I agree. As much as I loved seeing Anthony, you’re right, Christie, he was wasted. Given that Sarge kept telling Mack and the team that the Shrikes leader is coming. Could Izel, the mystery traveler, be that person or working for that person? [See Christie’s comment below.]

Roz: Yes, Anthony Michael Hall was wasted.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD

HENRY SIMMONS, JEFF WARD, NATALIA CORDOVA-BUCKLEY. (ABC/Mitch Haaseth)

YOUR THOUGHTS

Christie: Who else thinks FitzSimmons are on board a ship headed to Earth with the very monster Sarge is warning about?

Rueben: I agree. The clip for next week said she’s looking for the monoliths, but what if she is the big bad after all, and they are helping her get to Earth. I really want Fitz and Simmons to get home, but not if they bring even bigger trouble along with them.

Roz: Yes, I’m worried this woman is what we need to be worried about but it’ll be better to see more of these threads coming together.
