BLOOD & TREASURE: Observations From “Escape From Casablanca”
Blood & Treasure was all new this week – and with the news that CBS has renewed the series for another season! WOO HOO!
Danny and Lexi must improvise in order to stay alive and out of jail when they’re stuck in Casablanca with both law enforcement and their enemies hot on their trail. Also, Hardwick’s personal investigation into the Brotherhood of Serapis lands him in a dangerous situation.
Quite a bit happened in this weeks episode – let’s get into it shall we?
The Good
First of all they made an actual Cleopatra discovery. The gold outer shell of the sarcophagus. That is exciting. They are on the right track. SHAW! I’m starting to really adore this jackass. This whole speech to Lexi about being a tiger made me groan, but was also so Shaw. The idea that he ended up in Casablanca giving tourists the “Casablanca experience” is hilarious and again – so Shaw. Speaking of the Casablanca experience – how great did the writers do of weaving in the most iconic of lines from the movie Casablanca? They even framed a few shots so perfectly to line up with the movie.
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY our Danny and Lexi make it into the bedroom. I really do like them as a couple. The ying and yang of their relationship is great.
The Bad
Gwen is the worst, yes? The. Worst. Why can’t she work with them? She knows Danny is a good guy and she knows what they are doing is for the greater good. How is hunting Farouk not considered respectable? I’m unsure why Interpol is being so weird about all of this. The Brotherhood is a close second for title of The Worst. Are we seriously running around kidnapping people and unrolling different scary knives to interrogate someone in 2019 in the name of The Brotherhood? And what is with Fabi lying to Lexi about her father? She will find out.
My final bad thought goes to Lexi not just confiding in Danny about The Brotherhood. Honestly, if anyone in the world would protect that secret it would be him.
Misc Thoughts
I love that Lexi turned the stash house money over to the leader of the refugee camp. It always makes me laugh when Shaw ends up doing the right/good thing – like taking the doctor to Oslo. Lexi turning herself in was a big step in being the person Danny knows she can be. That coupled with Omar being arrested and the Italian mob no longer wanting to kill Danny and Lexi was a nice ending to the episode.
