The InBetween Roundtable: Where The Shadows Fall
The InBetween aired its third episode of its debut season on NBC this week, focusing on the following:
Cassie (Harriet Dyer) visits the hospital where Damian’s (Justin Cornwell) fiancée is being treated and encounters the spirit of a young boy who needs her help. Her efforts to unravel the mystery of his death, and why he is trapped in the InBetween, lead her to world of spirits that might be more than she can handle.

STUPID
Leah: Ed Roven thinking that somehow the inbetween is a worse place than where he is going. There is no way he isn’t going someplace much….hotter, right? He was a terrible person, but he wasn’t dumb. This just seems like a dumb idea.
Lisa: Yes Leah! He will definitely be visiting Lucifer and burning up. He should wish he could stay in the InBetween.
Rueben: This episode was a bit too predictable for me. It was too obvious that the doctor was the angel of mercy, and that the dead nurse was having an affair with the hospital administrator.
AWESOME
Leah: While the plot was a little unsurprising I’m still very much on board with the creepiness of this show. That contributed all of the awesome moments for me. I jumped a few times!
Lisa: The creep factor was definitely on point! I loved when Cassie saw Ethan in the elevator and said, “I hope he’s not like the kid from The Ring.” Ha! I loved it!
Rueben: I liked that young Avery could see Ethan when no one else could. Avery being able to see him certainly helped Cassie learn what happened to him and the other basement victims.
SO SO
Rueben: What was the point of Cassie going to the hospital to visit Sally if she couldn’t get any connection with her? Sure Cassie being in the hospital helped with the dead nurse case, but it didn’t help progress the story with Damien and Sally.
Leah: I’m with Rueben. Seemed like this was going to be a catalyst. She talks to the dead/dying/caught in their own minds and Damien has that type of person in his life. It was all tying together. I hope they have a plan to get that part back on track.
Lisa: Count me in because I agree. It was a bit of a let down to get no info after the build up to see Damian’s girlfriend. Hopefully we will get some answers because that is an interesting plot line for me.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Leah: I wish we didn’t have to keep getting preempted with sports and political stuff, but other than that I’m here for this show. I’m really liking it.
Lisa: Me too! Booooo with political stuff and sports. I want to see the next episode! I like how we are getting to know a little bit more about the characters each episode.
Rueben: Why does Ed Roven not take the hint to leave Cassie alone? Does he really think that by “helping” her he’ll get out of the in-between and be allowed to walk through the pearly gates? Even in death he seems delusional. Despite it being a sad story, it was good to learn a bit more about Cassie’s past.
