BLOOD & TREASURE: Observations From “The Ghost Train of Sierra Perdida”

By  |

Blood & Treasure was all new last night with Lexi and Danny traveling to London where they ran into Simon Hardwick and to Spain on the trail of a ghost train from 75 years ago where they ran into that mafia guy again; naturally he wanted their heads for all the trouble and expense they caused him as well as another run-in with Farouk’s right hand man Omar.

Farouk

This time around there wasn’t any sign of the terrorist, but we got plenty of his right hand man Omar and many of his other goons. They were in the mountains of Spain, looking for a ghost train that was full of Nazis as well as the sarcophagus of Cleopatra that disappeared 75 years earlier.

Of course, Omar and the goons were caught by that mafia guy who hates Lexi and Danny for all the money lost and trouble they caused previously. The mafia guy thought he was going to recoup some of his losses by collecting money from Omar for digging on “his” land in the mountains of Spain, but instead his lost his son, who was killed by a vengeful Omar.

Lexi’s Dad

It was implied in last week’s episode that her dad could have been working with Farouk, but thankfully that was debunked by a friend of Lexi’s – an art forger, who Danny had attempted to arrest a number of times in the past. Lexi’s friend figured out that the letter was a fake letter made to look like Farouk wrote it to Lexi’s dad, implicating her dad in deals for which he wasn’t involved. At least now we know he wasn’t working with Farouk, but in the final scene between Lexi and Simon, it turned out that her dad just might have been part of the Brotherhood of Seraphis. The plot thickens, huh?

Simon

There is a lot more to him than meets the eye. He was at the big black tie gala at that Jessica’s Wong elaborate London estate where Danny and Lexi went undercover, posing as two employees of Jay’s. Of course, they got caught by Jessica and her henchmen, but they tricked her into not only believing that a van load of armed men were waiting outside her estate – just ready to pounce – but also to reveal that while Jessica wasn’t working with Farouk, she was tricked into buying worthless land in the mountains of Spain – right where that mystery train filled with Nazis and Cleopatra disappeared. Convenient, right? Nope!

The Rest of the Players

We don’t get to see enough of Chuck. Although what we did see of him in last night’s episode was pretty priceless especially his telling Danny what Lexi could and couldn’t do if she were allowed back in his place.

As Leah pointed out, do we trust Jay? We didn’t see him in last night’s episode, but she has a point? Can we trust him? And, while Leah suggested that perhaps Dr. Ana Castillo is the only one with sense giving up the search for Cleopatra, part of me is wondering just whether we can trust her or not.

SIDEBAR: How funny was that moment were Danny contemplated going back from his wayward hat while they were stuck in the middle of a shoot-out between the mafia guy and his son and Omar and Farouk’s goons?
