WHISKEY CAVALIER Roundtable: Czech Mate
This week on Whiskey Cavalier:
In the Season 1 finale, Ollerman attempts to force the team to commit a terrorist attack for The Trust using Ray’s life as leverage. Meanwhile, Jai helps Standish deal with a revelation about Tina, and Will and Frankie come to a realization about their relationship.
Whiskey Cavalier may have been cancelled by ABC, but we are going to finish the season strong and fingers and toes crossed someone else picks it up.

STUPID
Rueben: Ollerman’s so called death. Really? It was a good idea to shoot out the window behind him because you thought he would just give up? You didn’t think for a minute that he wouldn’t try to jump? And then to not shoot him BEFORE he jumped? And you didn’t make sure that he was good and dead. ARGH!!!
Leah: Ollerman not dying was groan worthy for me. What the heck? He has dodged too many bullets and it was ridiculous.
Roz: is Ollerman a cat? Why does he not die after so many attempts?
Cay: Will and especially Frankie not shooting Ollerman. Why not shoot him before he jumped (and apparently faked his death)?
AWESOME
Rueben: I cheered when it was revealed Standish was in the room and he shot Tina. That was the perfect ending for her, and great for Standish. I also liked that they all worked as a team, even Ray.
Roz: Go Standish! After being the “weak link” he showed that he has skills as a spy.
Leah: I’m with Cay. That was pretty shocking for me. The team actually working together is a close second for me. Everyone actually came together!
Cay: Standish killing Tina. Didn’t really see that coming and it was definitely awesome.
SO-SO
Rueben: I knew that older couple who came into the bar in the first scene were gonna show up again, and cause trouble. They’d been at that bar for too long to just have some random people show up. They should’ve known something was up!
Cay: I still am not a fan of Ray and don’t understand what Susan sees in him!
Leah: Why did Ollerman’s whole plan rest on saving Ray? Seems pretty flimsy. Also I’m never a fan of a cliffhanger…
Roz: The cliffhanger is going to get to me for a while, but I agree with Rueben on that old couple.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Rueben: I hated the cliffhanger ending especially given that the show has been canceled by ABC. Just. So. Wrong. I SO wanted to see more of the show, to see the characters grow and change, to see the missions they would go on, have a good laugh and get some action sequences. I really liked the chemistry between Will and Frankie too. There was so much potential, and I hope that maybe they can find a new home for the show.
Leah: I’d love for another network to pick up this show. It was really growing on me. The chemistry within the cast was so great. On the upside Bill Lawrence (showrunner) said he would tell us what a season two would look like if they don’t find a new home.
Roz: Why can’t we keep shows like this on a network like ABC? Sure there are days when we all see into the plot in five minutes, but the chemistry is great!
Cay: So bummed that ABC didn’t renew this show! It’s the show that I’ve looked forward to every week. It’s been a while since I’ve felt like this about a show. Fun cast, fun premise. I thought it was a decent send off, at least until the last minute. I enjoyed all the love to Prague where the series filmed.
