Blindspot Roundtable: ‘OHANA

By  |

In this week’s Blindspot:

Bill Nye reprises his role as Patterson’s (Ashley Johnson) father in a case that pits the team against a pestiferous foe. Zapata (Audrey Esparza) goes rogue with an old friend as Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) continue their search for the hooded figure.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Leah: Oh it’s hard to choose, but I’m going with Claudia. That is probably because it is tied to Zapata and I don’t care for all of that.

Roz: What is going on with smart women doing something so dumb? Claudia is reckless but it’s not surprising giving how bad the Dominic plan is.

Rueben: Claudia for leaving to go on her own to catch the guy who was in communication with Dominic. That was just a sad, stupid move that cost her her life.

Cay: Kurt’s hero worship of Bill Nye and his very awkward enthusiastic laughter at the CRISPR video – it seems so out of character it was jarring.

Lisa: What the hell was Claudia thinking? She was so stupid to try and do anything on her own. She should have waited for back up and a plan and she might not have died.

AWESOME

Leah: Killer bees for the win! Close second to Bill Nye and Rich. And as Cay said, “no bombs”!

Roz: It’s great to see Bill Nye back again and that case was different. Killer bees are not a bomb!

Rueben: Watching Patterson and Ginny working in the lab to trick those two bad guys using their knowledge against those two, who lost their lives to those poisonous bees. That was pretty clever. Also priceless was Weller’s obsession with Bill Nye and Weller’s glee over that video of Bill talking about crispers. Anything that Rich does. He just makes these episodes so much more fun to watch.

Cay: TTX happens to be my favorite toxin of all time (yeah, maybe I’m a little weird!) so having it used as a weapon other than the classic “voodoo zombie” plot was pretty awesome. Add GMO bees and it was pretty darn cool. Bonus – no bombs!

Lisa: I love Bill Nye, Patterson and Rich dot com. Can we get a spinoff?

SO SO

Leah: Another story about duplicitous mothers.

Roz: Why can’t Sandstorm just die? It this one of those never-ending bad guys?

Rueben: I could still do without the whole Sandstorm storyline until it was revealed at the end of the episode that the woman in that jacket was identified as Weller’s mom. WTH is going on there?

Cay: Agree with Rueben on Sandstorm. However,  I like this new twist, although I’ll withhold final judgement until I see if it plays out in a reasonable way.

Lisa: Me three! I’m over Sandstorm too but definitely want to know what’s the scoop with Weller’s mom.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: Sandstorm won’t die and now we have more of Weller being part of the plot. Of course!

Rueben: I hate to say that I’m now very curious about this whole twist in the Sandstorm storyline now that Weller’s mom is connected to it somehow. What is with that? Is there any hope for Zapata and Reade? I kinda miss what could have been between them. Or would that just get in the way? Also, how funny was it that Bill Nye thought that Rich was Patterson’s boyfriend?!

Cay: I can understand Bill’s confusion. Patterson and Rich bicker like an old married couple. It’s still weird to me that Bill Nye is part of the show, playing himself. It’s a bit too meta for me.

Lisa: I was in my feelings during Zapata and Reade’s scene when he said they will catch Claudia’s killer together. Can they patch up their relationship? I hope they do.
