Women Behind the Scenes Spotlight: Sara Colleton

Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is focused on film producer and TV executive producer Sara Colleton.

Sara is an American TV and film producer who got her start in the industry as an assistant to movie director Harold Becker, who was at the helm of the 1981 box office film Taps.

She later worked as a producer on the 1994 movie Renaissance Man, which starred Danny DeVito, Gregory Hines, James Remar and Ed Begley Jr.

More recently she was a producer on the 2001 movie Riding in Cars with Boys that starred Drew Barrymore, Rosie Perez and Sara Gilbert; the TV mini-series Widows which featured Mercedes Ruehl, Brooke Shields, Rosie Perez and N’Bushe Wright in the lead roles.

She then was an executive producer on the Live from Baghdad TV movie that starred Michael Keaton and Helena Bonham Carter and later was a producer on The Painted Veil, which starred Naomi Watts, Edward Norton and Live Schreiber.

Sara moved to TV as an executive producer on the long-running Showtime drama Dexter, working on the show for all 8 seasons, and followed that up with working as an executive producer on Hannibal.

Currently she is an executive producer on the new WGN America series Gone that stars Leven Rambin, Chris Noth, Danny Pino, Andy Mientus and Tracie Thoms.

Gone is currently airing on Wednesday nights at 9 PM on WGN America.
