WHISKEY CAVALIER Roundtable: Mrs. & Mr. Trowbridge
This week on Whiskey Cavalier:
Will and Frankie head to Paris where they must grudgingly pose as a married couple to infiltrate a wedding and capture a genocidal Romanian general.

STUPID
Cay: Ugh, get rid of Ray already. He’s way over-lasted his welcome (not that he had one!) It was also really dumb that Iona chose Paul over her father, didn’t seem to care that he was shot, and then they got married – this whole thing was a bit too cheesy.
Roz: Ray’s annoying and weirdly there for awkward moments only but then Frankie and Will can’t seem to get the idea of acting. You’re trained to lie to people, just do it!
Leah: Frankie – what were you thinking? You are a professional – by all accounts a good one – and you can’t pretend to be married to Will for a weekend? So unprofessional to sleep with someone else, in such a small setting, while pretending to be married! To what, hide some feelings? This did not work for me (obviously). Who cares if Will loves weddings and you pretend like you don’t. For the weekend you are married. HAPPILY MARRIED!
Rueben: I had a problem with Frankie and Will arguing when there was the possibility they could be overheard. And those bridesmaid dresses were AWFUL! I still don’t like Ray, and can’t understand why he is still around.
AWESOME
Cay: I’m a sucker for the old “undercover as an awkward married couple” plot.
Roz: I love a fake married plot, but I’m giving this week to the laser dance tied with the Interpol agent’s just general aura of confused about his life choices.
Leah: Agree with Rueben – the laser “dance” was great. The pauses with close ups as they talked was a nice touch. Also – to steal a little more from Rueben – I love the kiss to avoid something ploy. I don’t care how many shows have used it over the years – I am always head tilt to the right saying “awww” while it happens. Also the locations they are shooting the show at are stunning. This is what happens when you shoot the whole season in Europe – amazing architecture.
Rueben: I really enjoyed that whole dance they did to avoid the lasers in the opening scene. Granted that wasn’t them during most of the moves – that what doubles are for after – but it sure was slick. And, how about that kiss that Frankie – as Mary – planted on Will – as Dan. Everybody FELT that one!!
SO-SO
Cay: The Frankie having an “affair” plot didn’t do anything for me.
Roz: Fake Married Couples should do more than bicker at each other before one of them kisses/sleeps with another member of the wedding party. Play the part or don’t play at all.
Leah: Susan pouting because she was “left behind”. I do not EVER want to agree with Ray, but get over it already.
Rueben: I have to agree with Cay. Frankie allowing Mary to get it on with that guy when they were undercover. That was just needless and could’ve backfired on their mission.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Cay: A fun enough episode.
Roz: I will happily take another Fake Married episode later to get something better from the tension than this week. Please and thank you.
Rueben: I enjoyed the episode, but wish they would stay away from the typical TV tropes and cliches.
Leah: I still like this show despite some early bumps. I have faith that they will work it out and it will only get better.
