Blindspot Roundtable: The Big Reveal

By  |

On this week’s Blindspot, Reade confronts Zapata, while the team follows a lead to a potential cure for Jane.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Rueben: Did they really think that we would believe that Patricia Richardson would appear in the show for only one scene. I saw the reveal of her character really being alive before the beginning credits aired. It was, to me, almost too obvious that she wasn’t dead.

Lisa: Rueben always says what I’m thinking! Duh…obviously she wasn’t dead.

Cay: Yeah, it seemed unlikely that she wasn’t going to reappear. I’ll admit that I was hung up on these magical stem cells that are the only ones that can save people with ZIP poisoning? Ok, I’ll admit, ZIP is a bit ridiculous on it’s own (although better now with some back story of its development), but this part just made it more ridiculous.

Roz: Rueben gets me! Don’t get Patricia Richardson for one scene! How dumb are we? Not that dumb.

AWESOME

Rueben: We finally got some major answers from Zapata (obviously the reason for the title of the episode), but part of me kept wondering if she was still lying somehow. And even when Reade got that video call from Claudia, I was wondering if someone was holding a gun to Claudia’s head to force her to make the call. This show makes you question everything even when we’re finally getting answers.

Cay:  Yeah, I was suspicious of the Claudia call, too. Didn’t we see Zapata kill her? That was one of the things that made me wonder if maybe she wasn’t just undercover. Maybe they faked her death, or maybe that call was fake? I like the ambiguity with this plot line.

Lisa: Yay! We finally got some answers about Zapata. I am still suspicious of her though. I liked all of the flashback scenes but like you all I’m not sold on the Claudia call either.

Roz: It is bad that I loved Zapata getting dressed down by Reade? Because it was well worth it to see her take it after all those lies.

SO SO

Rueben: If we looked at Roman from Dr. Roga’s point of view, he seemed like a good guy, and probably part of him always was, but he did SO many bad things that it’s hard to see him in any other way so that whole part was just “so-so” to me.

Lisa: The Zip storyline is done. I’ve over it. It needs to be zipped in the bag that Jane crawled out of  and sent away.

Roz: Why are we still on this Zip storyline? We were one set of bad guys away from getting Jane the cure.

Cay: Just like the Jane-Remy storyline had run it’s course, I’m also getting tired of the ZIP storyline. Surely they will cure her as they wouldn’t have spent so much time saving Jane from Remy only to have her die (plus she’s the lead character!).

YOUR THOUGHTS

Rueben: Given what we saw in the clips for the next episode, Jane is getting worse, and it seems like they aren’t any closer to finding those rare stem cells – like that was going to be an easy fete to begin with – so what now? And what’s going to happen now that the CIA took Zapata (like we didn’t see that coming after the way CIA agent Sabrina balled out Reade over letting Zapata back into the field).

Cay: So why did the CIA (?) abduct Zapata? Because she told the truth to Reade, or because she lied? Or is there absolutely no record of her mission and they are after her assuming she’s an enemy agent? So many questions!

Lisa: I loved seeing Reade stick up to Zapata in the interrogation room. That was epic. But what happens next? And why does everyone always end up in a trunk?

Roz: Romantic whiplash is not my thing, so watching Jane and Weller be so in love is going to take time to readjust to.

The next new episode of BLINDSPOT will air on Friday, February 1 at 8/7c on NBC.
