THE ROOKIE Roundtable: Flesh and Blood
The Rookie was back with a new episode this week, which focused on:
Officer Nolan and Sgt. Grey are paired up for the day on patrol; Officer Chen is paired up with Capt. Andersen, and Officer Bradford tells Chen to protect her at all costs.
Let’s dig into the episode with our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):
STUPID
Roz: That trip into the house with the gas leak is walking into danger – literally – and man could I have done without Nolan or Grey getting killed that way after all the bonding they had during the episode.
Rueben: Bradford and the skunk, really?!
Leah: I liked Nolan and Grey partnering up given their personal issues, or really Grey’s personal issues, so to having them go into the gas leak and the trouble that ensued….sure good drama for TV, but annoying since I want them to have more awake screen time together to bond!
AWESOME
Roz: Andersen in the field and in the front office! I knew she was capable, but to watch it was another thing all to itself. All of those situations she and Lucy faced were great highlights of her chops, even if most of the division doesn’t see her as a cop.
Rueben: I was impressed by the Captain too, but I loved the scenes between Lopez and Shawn Ashmore’s character – whose name I’m pretty sure we haven’t been told yet (or did I miss it in this episode?) I could see her asking him to go to her brother’s wedding from a mile away, but it was still fun scenes. I’m SO glad they brought him back!
Leah: We are back to the amazing guest stars! I love an Ashmore! (whose name I didn’t catch either.)
Roz: IMDb didn’t give him a real name, just Isabel’s lawyer. Sad!
SO SO
Roz: What is Bradford’s deal with needing to be controlling of all the women in his life? I get that he’s an alpha male, but this role is grating on me so much.
Rueben: Again, Bradford what is this guy’s deal? I couldn’t agree with you more, Roz. If he’d just let go of some of that machismo I might like him better. He’s a good cop, he just comes off wrong too much of the time.
Leah: Let’s just call it three times a charm – I completely agree with Roz and Rueben!
YOUR THOUGHTS
Roz: Why do I want sparks between Nolan’s son and Grey’s daughter? I shouldn’t want to ship it, yet I do!
Rueben: OMG, I was thinking the same thing. We shouldn’t like that idea given how much Grey doesn’t like Nolan and how unsettled Grey makes Nolan, but they did have some undeniable chemistry. I’d also love to hear more about this turdunken story that Henry and Nolan were talking about especially since Nolan said something about a cat at the end of the episode. What is up with that? I’d also love to see more of Anderson so we can get a more fleshed out story on her.
