Blindspot Roundtable: Screech, Thwack, Pow
Friday night’s Blindspot found Remi racing against the ever-worsening ZIP poisoning to enact her ultimate plan.
Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):
STUPID
Rueben: The CIA only had one vehicle and two agents guarding Shepherd when they were set upon by Jane/Remi and Violet. Also, not to smart that Jane/Remi believed that Boston was taken down. I saw his faking his death coming the minute the scene showed him laying on the road. C’mon?!
Lisa: I agree with Rueben. It was obvious that Boston was faking his death and Remi didn’t catch it. And…I’m sorry Kurt’s car flipped over a bunch of times and he just walks away with a minor cut on his head? He would have been dead. That was too much!
Cay: I think the crash was definitely survivable – the passenger compartment was intact. But Kurt looked a bit more spry immediately afterward than he should have! But, WTH was going on with Remi and Kurt running at each other at the end?!? It is completely asinine for Kurt to have gone alone (if he’s not alone, this scene is even dumber!) and what does he expect to happen when they run at each other – is it going to be a WWF-style smackdown, or what?
Leah: What happened in this episode? All logic went out the window? See Lisa and Rueben’s comments.
Roz: I had plenty of things to complain about and I think Rueben and Lisa got them. It was just poor planning from everyone that was dealing with Sheppard.
AWESOME
Rueben: It’s totally Rich for the win. First, he created a program that allows him to make anyone say what he wants them to in video form; then he tracked down that cable that Jane/Remi planted in the FBI that allowed Boston to hack into Norad and then he tricked Boston into thinking he was going to supermax in order to get him to say he loved Rich. You are sneaky little man, RichDotCom.
Cay: I feel that Rich is always our Awesome. Hard to imagine the show before they made him a regular!
Lisa: Hell yeah RichDotCom! I second everything Rueben said. He is always a highlight for me.
Leah: I’m always here for Rich. He is often the MVP of any episode he is in. This was no different. Yay Rich!
Roz: Rich for the win!
SO SO
Rueben: Jane/Remi thinking that Roman was alive and not just an hallucination. She knew he was dead so her zip poisoning is getting really bad, especially that she would believe that video of Roman that Rich created. Bleh.
Cay: Rich entrapping Boston to get him to say “I love you”. It’s definitely in character, but still just kind of annoying (well, Boston is always annoying!)
Lisa: I know the intention was to build up a big fight between Jane and Weller, but having them run toward each other at the end was underwhelming and looked silly. What are they going to do chest bump?
Leah: Who knew ZIP poisoning could be so annoying?
Roz: Remi and this ZIP poisoning is dragging in a way that it shouldn’t. I get we need something to make Jane/Remi different, but it feels so unnecessary.
YOUR THOUGHTS
Rueben: How does the stand-off in Mexico between Reade, Weitz and Zapata go down? Jane/Remi and Weller running at each other in that cliffhanger; how is that going to turn out? Shepherd is out there on her own, and if Jane/Remi doesn’t return, what will she do next?
Cay: I’m still so curious what Zapata’s deal is. Hard to believe that she could have good motives as deep in as she is at this point. But if she’s not undercover somehow, I have a hard time imagining her motives unless she’s totally broken with reality. Her and Reade and Weitz was definitely a better cliffhanger than Jane and Kurt running at each other.
Lisa: I’m curious to see what happens next with Reade, Zapata and Weitz! That is a good cliffhanger for next week. I want to see her go down!
Roz: Is it just a showdown in Mexico or are they also going to Toronto after all? I just need some resolution there too. It’s weird having Zapata in her own storyline.
The next new episode of BLINDSPOT will air on Friday, January 11 at 8/7c on NBC. Stay tuned for our our video from New York Comic Con where we asked Jaimie Alexander (Jane/Remi) and Sullivan Stapleton (Weller) about the episode.
