Blindspot Roundtable: Ca-Ca-Candidate for Cri-Cri-Crime

By  |

Friday night’s Blindspot made us question Zapata’s actions – again! – and the episode also finally had Weller questioning what Jane is doing.

The official episode synopsis is as follows:

A congressman’s murder triggers the tattoo database and reveals a political conspiracy of international magnitude that raises questions about FBI Director Weitz; Reade is interrogated by the CIA about how Zapata got into his computer.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Cay: I don’t get why Reade didn’t tell the CIA about the fact that he was, indeed, threatened with torture – a hot poker next to one’s face seems to apply. Or he could have easily said that they had a gun to his head as well – who is going to disagree? It was close enough to the actual situation.

Roz: Jane’s whole plan to get into that black site is just bad. When someone else says the plan is dumb, it probably is.

Rueben: When Weitz and Reade were at Congressman Davenport’s home, letting him go to his office to secure documents – I yelled at the TV because that is just so cliche, thinking a hit team or hitman would be there to take him out – only to be (somewhat) surprised that he was the one controlling the situation. ARGH!

Lisa: OMG! Me too Rueben. That whole scene at the house had me yelling at the TV! Come on, I’d like to think they are smarter than that although Reade has made some very questionable choices lately.

AWESOME

Roz: All of Weitz’s play at the end was worth it. He can be an ass, but that moment felt like he has his own agenda.

Rueben: Okay, for once Weitz really surprised me by showing up at Reade’s after firing him only to say that the firing was only on paper, and that he wants them to go after Zapata before the CIA gets to her. I wasn’t expecting that. Also, it’s about damn time that Weller opens his eye and starts questioning Jane’s actions. The clips for the next episode makes it look like it will Blindspot’s version of War of the Roses.

Cay: I hate Weitz, but this was a pleasant change for him. Not sure it made up for me being, once again, annoyed at him for the majority of the episode…I love that we can’t tell if Sasha is good or evil at this point! They’ve done a great job of keeping her motivations really ambigious. She’s definitely done some pretty awful stuff at this point, though. If that other henchwomen really was M16, what’s up with that?

Lisa: I’m just glad that Weller finally wised up on Jane and what she is up to. The next episode looks intense! Also RichDotCom is always awesome!

SO SO

Cay:The Remi-Jane-Kurt plot was rather tiresome this episode. I’m getting tired of the back and forth with Kurt getting suspicious, then backing off. I’m hoping he’s moving past the trust at this point. Could be interesting now that it looked from that one scene like both of them are now playing a role and thinking that they are fooling the other.

Roz: Can’t Kurt figure out what’s wrong?

Rueben: So last week showed that maybe there was the remote possibility that Zapata was actually deep undercover for MI6, but this latest episode seemed to turn that possibility on it’s head. What in the hell is going on?

Lisa: I’m over the Remi/Jane plot as well. I’m glad it appears that Weller has wised up. Also, What is Tasha up to? Her plotline is dragging a little longer than I hoped as well.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: Can this showdown happen already? That small point is a dead horse to me at this point.

Rueben: What kind of showdown are we going to see between Jane and Weller? When are we finally going to learn the truth about what Zapata is doing? Will they be able to find a cure for Jane that will revert her back?

Cay: My prediction is it all comes to a head in episode 9. Both Jaimie (Jane/Remi) and Sullivan (Kurt) warned us at New York Comic Con that we were going to need whiskey to get through that one. And maybe Kleenex, too.

Lisa: Yikes! Sounds like a doozy. I’d like to know if they are going to find a cure for Jane. Remi be gone! We have two weeks to see what will happen ladies!

BLINDSPOT will be back with a new episode on Friday, November 30 at 8/7c on NBC.
