A Million Little Things: Unexpected

By  |

On this week’s A Million Little Things:

“Delilah grapples with her life-changing decision; Maggie and Gary babysit Theo; Regina finds out Rome’s big secret.”

Here are Cay and Rueben’s thoughts:

Cay:

Wow, there was a lot going on in this episode! Not sure where to start! I’m feeling sorry for Theo – his life has been way too regimented! I’m feeling a little bit less warm towards Katherine and cutting Eddie a bit more slack, too, as I suspect that all of Theo’s strict routine came from Katherine and not him. I’m glad that he made it through the show without falling off the wagon.

I didn’t get the impression in the last episode that Delilah would consider an abortion, although having the baby be Eddie’s certainly makes things awkward and means the affair will be staring her and everyone else in the face forever more. I felt like a bit more explanation here earlier online with regards to how she was feeling would have been helpful. As an aside, once again Gary shows his true colors. He is that guy that you can count on in a pinch, no matter what you need!

What was Jon up to, and what does that letter to Delilah say? And why did Ashley hide it? I keep thinking she was into something with Jon – either an affair or some other nepharious business, but that doesn’t make sense with her not seeming to know where all his money was going. I’m glad we got back to this plot point, but things got more complicated rather than resolved, for sure.

I’m glad that Rome was forced to tell Regina about his depression – she certainly deserves to know! I thought he showed excellent restraint with Regina’s mother needling her about having kids – if I were him, I probably would have told her off before Regina could. I’m really not sure what her goal was other than making Regina feel inadequate. Clearly an interesting relationship there.

Rueben:

I have to agree this was a packed episode. I’ll start at the end and work my way backward.

Delilah coming clean to Eddie that the baby is his was the right thing to do especially given how hurt he was when she told him that the baby was actually Jon’s. But, it’s also right that everyone else believes that Jon is the actual father because their situation is already SO complicated. I have to wonder how long they’ll be able to keep that secret though.

The best moment for me was Rome finally breaking down to Regina and while it caused an argument between them – how could it not, right? – it was necessary. He needs the love and support of the one person who means the most to him and loves him the most. I also enjoyed Regina putting her mom in her place. Sure it was harsh and I’m sure she felt bad for what she said to her mom, but there is a certain line that has to be drawn – at least in my opinion – even where a parent is concerned. At some point, you’ve just got to mind your own business. I can stand passive aggressive attitudes.

I’m happy that Delilah was able to call on Gary, as he really has proven that he is so much more than he seems. He really is the perfect example of not judging a book by the cover.

I agree that it was good to get a little more on Ashley and the secret folder/letter for Delilah. It was quite something to see Ashley visual Delilah’s reaction IF she were able to come clean. When will she, though? The longer she waits the worse it’s going to be. Also, what is the deal with this secret mailbox and what was really going on with Jon’s finances? Is that the reason for his suicide?

Lastly, back to the end of the episode, it was great getting to see Eddie perform sober and having Theo spur his dad on to perform. So cute.
