A Million Little Things: Band of Dads

By  |

This week’s A Million Little Things filled in a bit of the story with some important details. (If you missed our post on the pilot, check it out here). The most shocking of which is that Eddie was sleeping with Jon’s wife AND he knew about it !!!! Which became even more awkward when Sophie chose Eddie to stand in for her father at her Father-Daughter dance recital. Rome decides he needs to get some therapy and seeks out Maggie despite her misgivings about having him as a client because of her relationship with Gary. Meanwhile, we also learned that Maggie is refusing further treatment for her cancer.

It never even occurred to me that the “wife of one of [Eddie’s] students” could have been Delilah! How stupid/irresponsible can you be? Their affair was bound to have torn their two families apart (and may well have, or may still). You just don’t sleep with your best friend’s wife!

I was happy that Rome stepped up at the dance and also that Eddie is rightly experiencing some self-loathing. The bit of backstory on Maggie was also surprising. Yes, she’s been rather spontaneous in her relationship with Gary, but outwardly she seemed to have it together, but this bit of insight hints that she’s not nearly as stable as she seems.

This show is starting to kind of feel like a soap opera for men! That said, I’m still interested to see where it goes. And I still want to know what Jon’s assistant is up to and why she is still hiding the documents from Delilah and everyone else.

To chime in with Cay, I didn’t see the affair between Eddie and Delilah until the actual reveal was made, and a lot of times I can see those story developments beforehand. Good on the writers for that surprise, but bad on the characters for letting that happen. What I wasn’t expecting was the voice mail message from Jon to Eddie – “just love each other” – WOW!!

I thought it was touching how “Uncle” Gary talked to Danny, telling him “exactly what (his) dad would tell him.” Who would’ve thought that Gary was good with kids?

I feel bad for Regina, as she is being kept in the dark about Rome’s attempted suicide. He really needs to sit down with her and talk about this, as she would be his strongest supporter to get him through all of that. Sure, he needs to get professional help (or else Gary will spill the beans), but his wife needs to know the truth.

It was an interesting development with Maggie, wasn’t it? Like Cay said, she isn’t as put together as she seems, but there is assuredly a lot more there than they have revealed; and I would really like to know more about her backstory. And, how about Gary wanting to know “who that guy was.”

I really enjoyed the recital dance, as it allowed Sophie the chance to just be happy for a little bit.

Most of all, I’m really beginning to be really suspicious about Jon’s assistant. Why is she hiding that folder AND that letter? Who is Barbara Morgan, the other name on that insurance policy other than Eddie, Gary and Rome? What is her end game in all of this? Is she trying to protect Jon? Protect herself? Protect Delilah? So many questions!!

The next episode of A Million Little Things will air on ABC on Wednesday, October 10 at 10/9c.

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
