My Top 13 Choices for October TV

By  |

Fall TV may have officially just gotten started last night on the major networks, but October TV will be here in less than a week so I wanted to take the time to look at my top choices for TV next month.

SAYING GOODBYE

The Canadian import Burden of Truth has been airing on The CW over the summer and its season finale will air on October 3 at 9 PM. I am very curious to see how the story will play out in terms of who is really responsible for all of those Millwood high school girls getting so sick.

COMING BACK FOR MORE

Among the TV dramas that are returning in October for the start of their new seasons, the following are the shows that I am most anxious to see:

Doctor Who on BBC America on October 7 at 9 PM
Supernatural on The CW on October 11 at 8 PM
Blindspot on NBC on October 12 at 8 PM
Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix on October 19
Midnight, Texas on NBC on October 26 at 9 PM

FALL HARVEST MOVIES

It is fall and that means Fall Harvest movies on the Hallmark Channel, which the network has been producing and airing for many, many years now. The new movies coming to the cable outlet in October include:

Falling For You will air on October 6 at 9 PM, starring Taylor Cole (Salvation and The Originals) and Tyler Hynes (Warehouse 13, Saving Hope and UnReal)

Under the Autumn Moon will air on October 13 at 9 PM, starring Lindy Booth (The Librarians) and Wes Brown (True Blood and Deception).

Love, Of Course will air on October 20 at 9 PM, starring Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl) and Cameron Mathison (All My Children and Murder She Baked movie franchise)

Good Witch: Tale of Two Hearts will air on October 21 at 9 PM, starring the cast of the weekly series – Catherine Bell, Bailee Madison and James Denton – in the annual Halloween special

The new streaming series Titans will debut on DC Universe on October 12. The live-action series follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the franchise. The focus is on Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites from the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie) and Rachel “Raven” Roth (relative newcomer Teagan Croft), a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness as they get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. The cast also includes Alan Ritchson (Blood Drive), Anna Diop (24: Legacy and The Messengers), April Bowlby (Drop Dead Diva), Bruno Bichir (Absentia), Lindsey Gort (Impastor and The Carrie Diaries), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) and Seamus Dever (Castle).

The new Nathan Fillion (Castle and Firefly) drama The Rookie will debut on ABC on October 16 at 10 PM. The show focuses on John Nolan (Fillion) who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being an LADP officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. The ensemble cast includes Afton Williamson (Banshee and Shades of Blue), Alyssa Diaz (Zoo and Army Wives), Eric Winter (Witches of East End and Rosewood), Melissa O’Neil (Dark Matter), Mercedes Mason (Fear the Walking Dead and NCIS: Los Angeles), Richard T. Jones (Judging Amy) and Titus Makin (Pretty Little Liars and The Path).

And, to close out the month, Hallmark Channel will get its annual jump-start on the holiday season with the first of its MANY Countdown to Christmas movies, starting with:

Christmas at Pemberley Manor will air on October 27 at 9 PM, starring Jessica Lowndes (90210) and Michael Rady (Timeless and Jane the Virgin).

The full October TV calendar, covering all the returning and debuting dramas, the final episodes of the rest of the summer dramas and the made-for-TV movies, will be posted later this week. Once it’s up, please take a look at the calendar, letting us know what you are most anxious to watch next month?
