Claws Season Finale: Who’s Left Standing?

By  |

Claws ended season 2 with a bang (Puns. Can’t stop, won’t stop), and it did not disappoint. With so many things up in the air, it was hard to imagine how it was all going to come together. The second half of the season dug deep into some of the characters, particularly Ann and Polly, but the finale brought it back to what the show does best, pure insanity. Claws is holding strong , and it’s no wonder it’s been holding steady as one of the best shows on right now.

It was finally time for Desna’s fake wedding, and even a tropical storm wasn’t going to get in her way. The wedding food and décor, altered thanks to the storm, were perfect for this show. It wouldn’t have been a Claws wedding without some questionable choices in event planning(do you all remember Roller’s funeral, or his wedding for that matter?). In the end, it was lovely, and the wedding gave everyone reason to get a little emotional and express their feelings, which was a nice way to end a season that delved deeply into the relationships and personalities of the women. It would have been a beautiful day, if it weren’t for that whole murder thing hanging over Desna’s head.

Speaking of murder, the Hussers have their own plans to get rid of Zlata and get back on top. Zlata ends up dead all right, but the shooter was a big shock to everyone (I’m not telling, go watch it!).

After the wedding Desna and Roller have a…moment in the bathroom, but unfortunately Olga figures out what’s been going on with them. As Desna and Ruval get ready for their wedding night, Olga calls and lets Ruval in Desna and Zlata’s scheme. Olga didn’t know that Desna had altered the plan and was just going to knock Ruval out so she could frame Zlata. Ruval attacks, and you know our girl fights back. Ultimately Ruval ends up going over the rail of a balcony in a classic cliffhanger move that leaves room for his return. Sure, Arlene said she saw the body, but WE didn’t see the body, and I think Arlene is shady, so I don’t think we’ve seen the end of Ruval. Although, I’m not sad to see the end of Madame Ruval. She was a little too rigid and uptight for this show anyway.

Arlene and Desna’s plan to take down Zlata seems to have worked, and it doesn’t matter because she looks like she’s gone for good anyway. Arlene says that Desna’s off the hook for her legal troubles, but Desna’s also out of business in the salon. At the end we see Desna telling Uncle Daddy she’s not settling for a piece anymore, she wants the whole damn pie, and Roller’s backing her up. That will add to next seasons drama, but the best news is that Ruval seems to have left Desna with a casino to run. You know she’s gonna run it like a boss and bring her girls with her. But then, Virginia!!! Noooo.

There’s a lot to look forward to in season 3. Zlata may be out of the picture, but I wouldn’t count Ruval out yet. And you know Uncle Daddy’s not going down that easy. Plus, Zlata mentioned a new supplier, so that could mean a new crew moving into the area. Desna’s legal troubles may be gone for now, but you know that won’t last, especially with Arlene on her tail. Speaking of Arlene. Is she shady? Is there hope for her and Ann? I don’t know if I even want her and Ann back together because it’s so much fun to see Ann with the ladies. Dang, Ann’s got charm for days. Jenn and Bryce are headed for Tampa, but I think we all know something’s gonna pull them back. Polly and Dr. Ken have reconciled, and Polly’s working on reconciling the Lilian situation as well. Let’s hope the therapy goes well. Finally, Virginia. Nope, this show cannot lose her. I won’t accept it.

Claws has already been renewed for season 3 and will likely return next summer on TNT. You can catch up or rewatch on Hulu and the TNT app.

Cara spends way too much time thinking about subtext, and the puns are always intended. When not watching TV, she can generally be found with her nose in a book.
