RECAP: The 100 “The Warriors Will”
Things are getting even more intense on The 100, as last night’s episode [which was directed by cast member Henry Ian Cusick, by the way] found Octavia doing her best to appear like the tough, bad ass Bloodreina that she became years ago deep in the bunker all the while attempting to save the life of her brother Bellamy, who she condemned to the bunker’s fight pit due to his attempt at killing off his own sister.
Of course, things didn’t pan out quite the way either of the siblings had intended: Bellamy refused to follow Octavia’s pleas of advice in taking out Indra once inside the fight pit – he planned not to fight at all – while Octavia wouldn’t list to Bellamy that there was another option: don’t go to war – especially since half of her people were not in favor of the impending fight now that Madi accepted the flame, essentially becoming the new Commander.
Speaking of Madi, the young girl was NOT happy with her surrogate mother Clarke for taking her away from Polis; in fact, she even briefly attempted to get away from Clarke and back to Polis, but that would have been a grueling 50 mile trek. Needless to say, Madi had to deal with the course before her: getting to Shallow Valley with Clarke.
In Shallow Valley, Abby was going through some serious withdrawals, enlisting help from Vincent to get her the pills that have been keeping her alive. He was able to deliver the pills, but as seen in one of the final scenes – when Madi and Clarke made it into Shallow Valley – Abby either took too many pills OR Vincent failed to get her right pills.
Back in the bunker, Gaia, her mother Indra and Bellamy were led into the fight pit and forced to fight; and despite his best intentions Bellamy fought and held his own – for the most part – against Indra. It was Gaia who did exactly what she claimed she would do, attempt to take down Octavia, but she missed by mere inches in taking down Bloodreina.
Thankfully, Monty and Harper raced into the fight pit to prove that his algae worked, that the Hydra Farm could be saved – something that Octavia ruled out earlier in the episode – and announced to all the bunker survivors that Octavia knew about the possibility of growing their own food but refused to move forward with that option.
Naturally, mutiny began within the fight pit as Octavia’s people began to revolt. However, Octavia disappeared, going to the Hydra Farm and setting it on fire, engulfing the entire farm in a horrific fire that destroyed everything, given them no other choice but to march on Shallow Valley, allowing Bloodreina to have the war that she has wanted all along.
What are your thoughts on this week’s episode? Did you expect Octavia to burn down the Hydra Farm, forcing them all into war? What do you think is really wrong with Abby? What do you think is going to happen next in Shallow Valley? Please share your thoughts in our comments section below.
The next new episode of The 100 will air on The CW on Tuesday, July 24 at 8/7c.
