RECAP: The 100 “Sic Semper Tyrannis”
The 100 returned to the primetime line-up last night after a two week break, also airing at a new time; and picking up right where the last episode left off with Octavia seemingly on death’s door and McCreary making his way back into the Shallow Valley after Diyoza pretty much left him for dead.
McCreary vs. Diyoza
With McCreary back in Shallow Valley, Diyoza had to not only deal with the enemy within but also with her baby daddy. That latter revelation came once the warring sides within the prisoners were literally battling it out with both sides taking significant losses. McCreary attacked Diyoza during this battle, and her way to get free was to stab him in the neck while asking him if he wanted to kill his unborn child. Slick move, Diyoza!
Clarke vs. Bellamy
This time around Clarke and Bellamy were on opposite sides because Bellamy wanted Madi to take on the “mantle” of Commander; in other words having the flame inserted into her neck, as – for a time – Octavia was barely hanging on to life. Of course, that was before Dr. Jackson helped to make Octavia better using dialysis.
The ceremony was performed on Madi – a ceremony that Clarke vehemently opposed – and supposedly Octavia didn’t want the ceremony to happen either although I’m pretty sure there is more than one reason for Octavia being against the ceremony. Especially in light of one of the Wonkru warriors pulling a gun on Clarke and Madi as they made their attempt to leave Polis – he was ordered to do so – and who would’ve given him that order?
Madi vs. Octavia
Now that Madi survived the ceremony and has all the knowledge of the past Commanders in her head via the flame will Wonkru see her as their leader or will they continue to nearly worship Bloodreina (Octavia).
Octavia vs. Bellamy
Octavia was obviously extremely angry at her big brother Bellamy for poisoning her, but it was clear in that final scene when she took to her throne, as the doors closed and she was completely alone, that there is still a small remnant of Octavia, the loving sister, still inside Bloodreina. But, I doubt that small sliver of the real Octavia will win out, leaving not only Bellamy but also Indra and her daughter Gaia trapped inside the bunker cage, having to fight it out.
Did you expect Octavia to recover quite that easily? Did you expect Madi to agree to the flame ceremony? What do you think will happen to Abby now that she’s trapped in the Valley with McCreary and his people? What do you think will happen to Raven, Shaw, Kane (et al) now that they escaped McCreary and are loose in the woods? Please share your thoughts on the latest episode below.
The next new episode of The 100 will air on The CW on Tuesday, July 17 at the new time of 8/7c.
