Salute to Rising Stars
It’s time, again, to salute those actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work, those actresses who are rising stars. Landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.
Let’s take a look at the next two actresses who viewers should keep their eye on:
Alexandra Ordolis
Alexandra was raised in Athens, Greece, but moved to Montreal, Canada when she was a child. She has an English and philosophy degree as well as training from the National Theatre School of Canada as well as CFC Actors Conservatory.
She has made guest appearances in a number of TV shows, including the U.S. version of Being Human, Helix, Rookie Blue, Ransom and Dark Matter.
She also had a recurring role during seasons two and three of The CW period drama Reign as well as a recurring role in the short-lived Spike TV thriller The Mist, based on the box office film.
Most recently, she has had a recurring role in the Canadian police drama 19-2 and can be seen in the current season of the Freeform fantasy series Shadowhunters where she plays Ollie, the police partner of Luke.
Sarah Davenport
Sarah started out acting in Atlanta before she was even a teenager, and musicals are her first love. In fact, she has a rather extensive background in musical theatre.
As for TV, Sarah first came on the scene as Ivy Brown, the half-sister of Kirsten Clark, on the Freeform sci-fi series Stitchers that came to an end last summer after three seasons on the air. Sarah joined the cast of that show for its final season.
She has also appeared in the thrillers Dusk, The Hatred, Deadly Detention, The Bachelor Next Door and Bodysnatch.
CORRECTION: But her next project will change all of that as she will play Jo March one of the latest adaptations of Little Women, that will include Lea Thompson, Lucas Grabeel and Ian Bohen as part of the cast.
NOTE: I wrongly identified the PBS mini-series!
Here is to Alexandra and Sarah as rising stars!
