Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Inside Voice” Roundtable
A new episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired on Friday night, giving us insight to the start of the Invincible 3, revisiting Robin – the Inhuman with the gift of visions – and watching as Carl Creel worked to get Coulson and Talbot out of Hale’s former Hydra underground bunker.
Here is the description of Friday’s episode “Inside Voice:”
Coulson is forced to team up with surprising allies to save the world, while the S.H.I.E.L.D. team attempts to track down and rescue him.
Join Roz, Karen and Rueben as they talk over the main plot points of the episode below:
What are your thoughts on Creel deciding to help Coulson and Talbot get out of the former Hydra bunker?
Roz: I think that time with the gravitonium is enough to sway him to SHIELD and I want it to last more than just the move to free Coulson and Talbot. Ruby and Hale are bad news.
Karen: An unexpected ally, but what a great twist. Using his connection to Talbot was a brilliant move on Coulson’s part. Now he sees what Ruby and Hale are capable of, and he’s also been one of their subjects. I don’t think he’s going to be passive anymore. The ladies have a loose cannon on their hands.
Rueben: I was quite surprised by Creel helping there. I mean I was thankful, but still very surprised. I have to wonder what will happen to him next, though, as I’m sure Hale is not going to treat him well after helping Coulson and Talbot get away let alone fighting her precious Ruby. Groan!
Deke only knew his grandparents as Nana and Bobo, really? Were you hoping that Deke would be able to reveal more to Jemma about their future and their daughter?
Roz: I wanted something more than what Deke gave, though if he had had more memories the secret of them being his grandparents wouldn’t have had the same affect.
Karen: Dumb names. Although Nana’s okay, but Bobo? I’m hoping we’ll get more. I enjoyed Mack’s “I’m sorry” to Fitz. If Deke had remembered more, he probably would have recognized them, right? The writers have to be consistent.
Rueben: Right, he called Fitz “Bobo,” really? Lame!!! But I guess I was kinda hoping that maybe he’d have some kind of memory to share with Jemma. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess.
What was your reaction when Robin called May “Mommy” right in front of her real mom?
Roz: It had to hurt but I understand that Robin thinks in too many timelines to keep things straight.
Karen: Ouch. At least there was another “Mommy” later to ease the pain a little. May must be reeling, at least a bit. Robin’s gonna keep her on her toes.
Rueben: I felt bad for Robin’s real mom, but like Roz said little Robin sees so much future events that it’s got to be SO difficult for her to keep it all straight. This only makes me wonder just what happened to her real mom to cause May to eventual take over the care of Robin.
What do you think of the “Invincible 3?” Are they thinking clearly? Are they just nuts – especially Jemma and Yo-Yo for that water-drinking stunt? Or are they just tempting fate?
Roz: It’s only a little nuts to try and tempt fate that often, but clearly we still have the same time loop in place, so it’s not a bad idea.
Karen: Darkly funny. I get why they did it, and I almost couldn’t believe when she poured out the last glass to see it was really the acid. They may be LITERALLY tempting fate, but if Fitz is correct, they can’t actually break it. I’m hoping he’s wrong, but I have a feeling he’s not.
Rueben: I was freaked out by the whole water-drinking stunt. I honestly think they are tempting fate; and if something happens to any of them, then the time loop will end, right? But if it does end, could things turn out worse or better than the future they lived? It’s mind-boggling.
How much did you want to see Creel just end Ruby?
Roz: So badly! Ruby and Hale are the worst!
Karen: I wanted to see him end BOTH of them. He has cause. For what they’ve done to both him and Talbot, he can’t be thinking too highly of either of them. And Ruby is probably top of his hit list. Hell will rain down, and it’s gonna come from Creel and Team SHIELD.
Rueben: I love it, Karen. Hell will rain down and it’s going to come from Daisy and Creel. Maybe we could have a tag team of Daisy and Creel against Ruby and Hale with the former team taking those Hydra bitches down.
What is the deal with that final scene, bouncing back four years to Raina and Quinn?
Roz: Well it explains how the gravitonium has a mind. It’s not just Quinn in there clearly…
Karen: I like getting that backstory. It’s definitely going to tie back in and we’ll see all the permutations. I’m guessing that’s why we need to see who’s being affected in the past.
Rueben: I have to admit that I was bit freaked out by seeing Raina. And I guess it was good that we know what really happened to Quinn, but there has to be a much bigger story there or else they wouldn’t have given us that scene. I’m almost afraid to see where that all goes from here.
Any favorite line, shared moment between characters or anything else you have to say about the episode?
Roz: Yo-Yo and the gun shouldn’t have been funny but I giggled.
Karen: I agree with Yo-Yo and the gun, how she can’t control her fingers yet. Mack’s expression through the glass was priceless. Also, as I mentioned above, his reaction to Deke being FitzSimmons’ grandson was hilarious. I actually laughed out loud when he apologized.
Rueben: I loved the one-liner by Coulson when he said, “her evil league of evil.” It gave me a Dr. Horrible feel for one quick second. You are both also correct on the Yo-Yo scene with the gun. It was quite priceless, wasn’t it?
