LUCIFER Roundtable: High School Poppycock
Lucifer is back and he and Chloe are tracking a murderer at a high school reunion.
Chloe and Lucifer “in” high school…did you like how Lucifer for once was focused and Chloe was “all over the place”?
Lisa: I thought the high school story line was cool. It was a fun change of pace to see Luci be the serious one and Chloe to get caught up in the high school drama. She was less robotic and showed a different side of herself. I thought it was funny that Chloe was up all night reading the book because I have definitely been there.
Karen: I loved the story, if only for the fact that we got the prom invite at the end of the episode. I don’t normally get all swoony over Luci and Chloe, but I was clutching at my pearls over them during their dance. SO SWEET. And notice that he didn’t leave her when he had his epiphany? Thank you writers.
Cay: I thought it was kind of funny that so many people didn’t realize that they didn’t go to school with them. I haven’t gone to any of my highschool reunions, but my school was medium-sized and I feel like I would recognize most people even if I didn’t remember their names. Um, especially if they looked like Lucifer! Chloe seemed to be channeling her inner social butterfly at the reunion – very different from what we are used to seeing, indeed. While I hate when Chloe seems to wooden, she seemed too floozy here for me for a bit.
Melissa: I so enjoy seeing the less serious side of Chloe! More of this please, more of Chloe having fun, of being interested in pop culture, of not always being the responsible adult. That woman needs some balance in her life. The prom experience Lucifer organized for Chloe was swoon-worthy. More of that, too! Oh, and Cay, I would totally be the person at the high school reunion who didn’t realize Lucifer wasn’t actually in my class. I am notorious for not remembering people from high school. My high school BFF has to give me context, and even then it’s not a guarantee that I’ll recognize the person.
Linda and Amenadiel done already?
Lisa: I don’t think for good. I hate that their relationship hurt Maze but I was beginning to like them together. Hopefully they can find a way work it out between the three of them. I must say Maze’s torture tactic for the 2 of them was pretty funny. The blind date scene cracked me up.
Karen: I wasn’t thrilled with them as a pairing, but after Linda’s talk at the dinner table I’ve changed my viewpoint a bit. I really just want Linda to get her happy, and if Amenadiel makes her happy – then I’m all for it.
Cay: that guy was so creepy. I liked it that he tied into the bigger case of the week. I’m not sure how I feel about them other than it doesn’t seem meant to be.
Melissa: I was just starting to believe they were good together! Ugh. I understand that they care about Maze and don’t want to hurt her, but Maze is being selfish. I hope they can all work it out.
How will Lucifer fix the past? Can he time travel?
Lisa: I was wondering how this would work and it seems that time travel is the only option but how? I know he’s the devil but not some magical creature. I’m curious to see how this will work.
Karen: Well, they are magical, but not time-travel magical. Not in any of the canon of the series at least. Amenadiel can freeze time after all, but that’s as close as it gets. I have no clue what he’s planning. The description for next week’s ep says: “Lucifer comes up with a hell-raising scheme to help Cain, but when Amenadiel and Maze get involved, things don’t quite go as planned.” – it doesn’t help.
Cay: You got me. I hope it doesn’t get too weird!
Melissa: I’m stumped by this as well. I know he returns to Hell soon for…reasons, but I’m not getting the time travel angle. I really hope they don’t go down that path; it opens up a Pandora’s box. (“Hermione, you can use the Time Turner to take additional classes and save Buckbeak, but don’t even think about going back in time to save James and Lily!”)
Favorite line/scene?
Lisa: Maze and Trixie on the couch.Trixie teaching Maze a lesson that Dr. Linda and Amenadiel might need a push to be honest was priceless. I love those two together. I also enjoyed Luci and Chloe dancing at the prom together. It was sweet.
Karen: PROM.
Melissa: I thought it was going to be Maze and Trixie, but then came prom! *swoon*
MVP?
Lisa: Trixie. It’s pretty much always Trixie with me.
Karen: Dr. Linda and her impassioned talk with Maze at the double date was a heartfelt moment that changed my whole opinion of her relationship with Amenadiel, so I have to give it to her this week.
Cay: Dr Linda and Trixie steal every scene that they are in!
Melissa: I’m with Karen, Dr. Linda made me believe in her and Amenadiel. Give her the trophy.
