VICTORIA: Escapism at Its Best {Recap}

By  |

Victoria, fresh off a trip to Ireland for the Potato Famine headed to Scotland this week – on the heels of some trouble in London.

But the trip to the Highlands gave everyone a chance to be something different, for good and bad. Victoria (Jenna Coleman) and Albert (Tom Hughes) use the time away – and the freedom of Scotland – to leave behind their host for a time.

What should have been a nice afternoon for the two of them turns into being lost and seeking shelter from a nice couple. They are able to forget about being Queen and Prince, just being married and alone.

However, Victoria and Albert were not the only ones who had a little be of escapism – Skerrett (Nell Hudson) has some time to meet and talk with an interested Scottish guard, who goes out of his way to make her feel special. For someone who is used to not attracting any attention, the man’s interests are entertaining and exciting.

For a short trip away, the trip revealed new facets to the lives that must be dealt with when they all return to London.

Victoria continues with two more episodes on Sundays at 9PM on PBS.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
