My Top 12 Choices for December
2017 is quickly coming to an end and since we are heading into the holiday season there are plenty of Christmas-themed movies coming to the small screen; a few shows finally airing their season premieres and a few cable dramas coming to an end.
The following are my top 12 choices for all of December:
WELCOME BACK
TV viewers have become accustomed to year-round programming (and thank God for that!) on the major and cable networks. For December there are three dramas coming back for new seasons.
On December 1, the two-hour season premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air on ABC at 8 PM.
The second season of The Crown will debut online on Netflix on December 8.
And, on December 13, the season premiere of the fourth season of The Librarians will air on TNT at 8 PM
SAYING GOODBYE
As exciting as it is for a show to start its new season, the time always comes for that show to come to an end. Three dramas will be ending in December, and they include:
Outlander will its final episode of its third season on Starz on December 10 at 8 PM.
The final episode of the second season of Berlin Station will air on December 17 at 9 PM on EPIX.
And, on December 19, the last episode of the National Geographic Channel mini-series The Long Road Home will air at 10 PM.
IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT…
There are a LOT of holiday-themed movies airing all over the TV landscape. Out of all of those movies, the following are the ones that I am most interested in seeing (and they all air on the Hallmark Channel):
Christmas Encore will debut on December 9 at 8 PM, starring Maggie Lawson (Psych) and Brennan Elliott (Cedar Cove).
Christmas Next Door will debut on December 16 at 8 PM, starring Jesse Metcalfe (Chesapeake Shores).
Christmas Getaway on December 23 at 8 PM, starring Bridget Regan and Travis Van Winkle (both from The Last Ship).
When Calls the Heart: The Christmas Wishing Tree on December 25 at 8 PM, starring all the cast members of the TV show in what has become their annual Christmas special.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL
Three years after the show went off the air Psych will be back with a special two-hour movie on December 7 at 8 PM on the USA Network, finding Shawn and Gus back in action, this time in San Francisco. It doesn’t hurt that Chuck alum Zachary Levi will be playing the “big bad.”
Also, on Christmas Day, the annual Christmas special of Doctor Who entitled “Twice Upon a Time” will air on BBC America at 9 PM. This special will introduced British actress Jodie Whittaker as the latest regeneration of the Doctor.
Is there anything airing in December for which you are looking forward to watching? Please share your thoughts in our comments section.
The full December TV calendar will be posted at the end of the month.
