Salute to Rising Stars

By  |

For several months now, I have been paying a salute to rising stars: actresses who are on the move, actresses who deserve a little extra attention for their latest work.

As I’ve said before, landing that crucial role in a TV movie or guest appearance in a successful show or film makes all the difference for aspiring actors.

Let’s take a look at the next two actresses for which viewers should keep their eye on:

Vanessa Morgan

Vanessa is a Canadian-born actress, who won the 1999 Junior Miss America pageant, and made her small screen debut in the VH1 original film A Diva’s Christmas Carol in 2000.

Over the course of the next couple years, she appeared in the teen shows The Latest Buzz, My Babysitter’s a Vampire and A.N.T. Farm as well as the Disney movie Geek Charming.

In the last couple of TV seasons, she has made a name for herself with her role in the MTV series Finding Carter; and is currently appearing in both the Spike TV (formerly on MTV) series The Shannara Chronicles as well as The CW series Riverdale.

Alison Fernandez

Young actress Alison is currently appearing as Lucy – the daughter of Cinderella and Henry Mills – on the current season of Once Upon a Time.

She got her start on TV in a recurring role of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit followed by roles in Orange Is the New Black, Fresh Off the Boat and as young Jane in The CW series Jane the Virgin.

Alison also appeared in the TV movie An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life and the box office movie Logan.

Here is to Vanessa and Alison as rising stars!
